Hello All

I had a cardioversion about five weeks ago. Still feeling very tired most of the time and not sleeping at all well. Is this to be expected?

Thanks

Sorry to hear you are feeling so tired, haven't had a CV but many on here have and I'm sure someone will.be awake soon to answer your question! Just wanted to send best wishes.I think I remember someone saying similar problems before. Take care ❤

Thank you. I have a suspicion that it may be the amodarone that I am still taking.

Cardioversion (DCCV)should not cause this. Cardioversion is a way for doctors to see if you feel better in normal sinus rhythm (NSR) in which case they can adjust treatment to try and maintain that situation. If you do not, as some people find, then ablation may not be a way forward.

Every DCCV I have had left me feeling elated and happy that I was back in NSR and apart from the after effects of the sedation I wanted to skip the light fantastic with happiness. If you are still on any drugs such a beta blockers (things that end in lol) I suggest that this may be the cause.

Thank you. I can say that I certainly have a greater tolerance of exercise (within the limits of the tiredness) but yes it may be to do with the amiodarone that I am still on? I also need to lose a bit of weight!

The tiredness is more likely to be caused by medication unless the AF has returned.

Hi G1703, my husband had 1st cardioversion early October too and is still taking Amiodorone. He is still very tired with aching bones but he is not breathless now and can walk on the flat quite comfortably but uphill requires frequent rests. His sleep pattern continues to be interrupted by "fluorescent nightmares" which are definitely Amio related according to various health professionals he has seen. He is hopeful that once he is able to stop Amio the negatives may improve in time.

He is now awaiting another heart scan followed by an appt, with Cardiologist which will likely be early 2019. It will be interesting to monitor each other's progress if we keep in touch via this wonderful forum. Best wishes for the future and go well.

Thank you DoubleEm. I don't have nightmares as such but do dream quite vividly and wake up several times. I have a sleep clinic appointment this coming week so may be that will reveal something. It would be good to keep in touch yes. Many thanks.

You might find that this unpleasant side effect may subside after a couple of months. I had something similar but nothing now. Fingers crossed for him and note the word "might".

Thanks bennie06, as you say "Fingers crossed"

I've had 20 of these. Each time the feeling of being cut loose and suddenly lighter because the weight of fast AF has been lifted has been balanced with feeling tired and sore but usually only for a week or so.

On the one occasion I was restarted from nothing onto 10mg Bisoprolol and 50mg Flecanide I had seriously bad fatigue for nearly a month.

Not what you're looking for?
