Had a successful cardioversion two days ago. Was pleased it worked but don’t feel any different. Still tired and breathless. Feeling a bit deflated. Is this usual?

Hi Netter....sorry to hear that you have not experienced the benefit of a cardioversion although deemed successful. Going by my experience of 19 of these I would say that this is unusual.

Are you sure that you have not reverted back to AF? I would see how you feel and if the same get your GP S opinion.

Best wishes

Sounds as if you are still in AF as cardioversion usually returns NSR and you feel much better.

Perhaps you are still recovering from the anaesthesia?

I had a cardioversion back in November 2018 and it took at least 4 days for me to feel any difference, like you I was still breathless and very tired didn't realise how bad I was until 4 days later and felt in top of the world as all my symptoms had gone. So I would say give it chance your body needs to adapt back to the way it should be. Good luck

I had a cardioversion three weeks ago and it also took a few days for me to feel the benefit. I'm feeling good now tho and in nsr

Are you still on any medication? following my first cardioversion the junior doctor discharging me didn't lower the dose of bisoprolol that I was taking, despite me challenging that advice.

2 days later I had to call my EP as I felt so terrible. HR was in the 30's on 12.5 mg of Bisoprolol.

My EP was not impressed, immediately reduced my dose and I think the Jr Doctor got a right telling off

felt better when my HR was back up to 55!1

Not what you're looking for?
