I can't imagine that you have for one minute.

Bambi's post is turning into a chat forum. I pity her when she has to plough through so many posts. Perhaps there's a limit to the amount of replies to a post.

Fair enough, it was going off on a tangent! I'm as much to blame for this as anyone !

I do it sometimes too, makes me feel guilty too, but Bambi's post is just growing so large.

How about a limit to the number of posts about Wolf Mimi Maze :)

I think the forum needs to be open to all different forms of AF cure procedures. I must admit that I've found Bambi and MummyLuv's posts exciting to read. Gives me hope that there really is a cure. Hallelujah!

Jean

mjames1 profile image
mjames1 in reply to jeanjeannie50

If the forum was any more open to WMM, there would be a button near each post to contact Dr. Wolf directly for an appointment :)

New ideas and discussion are good. Being tone deaf and constantly beating people over the head with a divisive and often factually incorrect message, not so good.

See how long you would last over at the US WMM Facebook page without getting banned, if you constantly trashed WMM like RF and Cryo have been trashed here!

I think this forum and those that run it are as open to new ideas as any forum I've participated in. Unfortunately we/they have been taken advantage of at times by some members because of that openness.

Yes hallelujah for the cure we would all like! Enjoy the weekend, Jean.

I'm still hoping a simple natural cure will be found. Like stop using microwave ovens! Or eating certain things. Steve on here managed to cure his AFib by diet. I guess you have seen the posts about him?

mjames1 profile image
mjames1 in reply to jeanjeannie50

I think Steve is the reason sometimes it's hard to find vitamin D on the shelves. He may have cornered the market :)

But seriously I think lifestyle intervention is great but the same intervention may not work for everyone and for some of us, Whatever lifestyle changes we make, unfortunately may not be enough. I think 20 years from now, possibly less, there will be exciting advances in treating afib. Until then all we can do is work with what we have.

I've been aware of mini maze since Mellanie True Hills of StopAfib.org had hers and posted about it in 2005. I have mentioned it in the dim and distant past. There was talk of Jonathan Hyde from my local cardiac centre having performed them but I don't think anything is happening now.

jeanjeannie50 profile image
jeanjeannie50 in reply to Jalia

Yes, I thought I'd heard of people having the mini maze procedure years ago. Not heard about it for ages, but it appears to have resurfaced again now.

Yes I remember Melanie's enthusiasm. I wonder how she is doing all these years later.

rl47 profile image

HiFirst of all, I know Melanie. She is still Afib-free at least since the last time I talked to her. A year ago.

I do not think she had the Wolf procedure. She did have some sort of Maze procedure, just not the Wolf.

I will see Melanie in a couple of weeks at the StopAfib.org patient conference in Dallas Tx.

Dr. Wolf and many other renowned Doctors will be there. The conference is a very worthwhile experience. For anyone that is interested, you can stream the conference live or attend in Dallas. We will be going there from Florida.

Take care.

Robert

Hello Robert, Mellanie remains afib free over 16 years now. Dr Wolf did not do her procedure but trained the Dr who did. Will see you at the conference. Always a wealth of knowledge. I am over 4 years now afib free after my WMM.

I’ve signed up for the livestream. Did that last year, was such an interesting & informative conference!

If you are interested in Surgery for your Afib you might find this informative.

If you’ve ever considered surgery to manage your afib, then you’re in for a treat Saturday morning at the Get in Rhythm. Stay in Rhythm.® Atrial Fibrillation Patient Conference, August 5–7 in Dallas (or via livestream) … because you’re going to hear from two of the afib surgery rockstars!

We hope this session will give you a clear picture of afib surgery options and how you and your healthcare team can determine whether surgery is appropriate for you.

Saturday, August 6, 8:30–10 a.m. Central Time

Dr. Randall Wolf

Dr. Randall Wolf, the innovator who pioneered the mini maze procedure (a minimally invasive surgical ablation), will share how patients decide on this procedure. Specifically, he will talk about when standalone afib surgery makes sense, who is a candidate for it (and who is not), and how doctors and patients decide among minimally invasive surgical options such as mini maze and hybrid/convergent procedures.

Dr. Ralph Damiano

Dr. Damiano, a world-renowned pioneer in minimally invasive cardiac surgery, will share with us about open chest and concomitant maze surgery, including why to have it done, how it is done, and what to expect before, during, and after. He will also discuss what to consider when it comes to a surgeon’s training and certification.

Both Dr. Wolf and Dr. Damiano will participate in a Q&A at the end of the session.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

To your health,

Mellanie True Hills

Founder, StopAfib.org

P.S. To empower you to get your life back, our faculty presenters will be taking deep dives into important afib topics, and you’ll want to understand the basics before August.

To learn the basics, you can access the recordings of last year’s conference (and those from prior conferences) in our StopAfib.org Library, here.

Hi Jalia, another member here who is in Dr Hyde’s local hospital is currently having discussions about a referral to him for mini maze. He is still practicing on the NHS which I thought was super news for anyone in the Brighton area

Jonathan Hyde is based at the Sussex Cardiac Centre, the same as my EP. I would be interested to hear of anyone on this forum who has had a mini maze performed by him and their history.

I haven't come across any stalwart or even any everyday, ordinary person who talks nonsense on this wonderful forum, yet - I'll look out for that, Bob. I've read confusion, fear, desperation and, twice, sheer nastiness - but not yet any nonsense.

But, in case I am ever guilty! ;-)

Plodding on thanks trying to get 1/2 mile of wild hedge cut whilst I'm still able. We work most mornings till 10.30 am after which it is too ho but today it was too hot when I woke up! .(Well it is Sunday).

We now have six builder's dumpy bags full of cuttings up on the top of the hill to burn off when the wind is in the right direction and there is less risk of setting fire to Devon. lol 😁

GrannyE profile image
GrannyE in reply to BobD

1/2mile of wild hedge sounds a heck of a lot of cutting. Must be a beautiful sight and a real haven for wildlife. Our golf club has a very long and beautiful wild hedge but we have machinery to cut it. Our club ‘is within the top 2 or 3 in Europe for wildflowers’ and are v environmentally friendly. So am v lucky

BobD profile image
BobDVolunteer in reply to GrannyE

The one up the road from us plants wild flowers all along the lane outside the main entrance so I caught their idea and now gradually setting wildflowers all over our hilside since it is otherwise pretty well impossible to mow. Quality of the seeds we buy can be challenging though and highly variable. Quite bored with cowparsley!

Ppiman profile image
Ppiman in reply to BobD

As a keen bird watcher who bemoans the loss of hedgerows in Leicestershire, I once had the notion that if farmers let their hedges grow just a few more feet then we could just about double our hedgerows in a single year.

Around here, the hedges are generally kept far too short for wildlife to benefit.

Steve

BobD profile image
BobDVolunteer in reply to Ppiman

The ones on our bank along side the lane are about 8 feet on our side and around 25 at the lowest part of the lane. We can just about do our side but pay a flail driver to do the lane side once a year in November Steve. Once a year we pay a team to top all the hedges down to about 5 feet but they will keep growing. I'm sure they are in league with the tree people and on a % of the take. We never touch them between November and July to allow the nesting to be undisturbed. We also have hazel doormice which are protected. Cute little things!

Ppiman profile image
Ppiman in reply to BobD

I’ve only ever seen those in a cage. You are lucky. Mind you the everyday type mice in the roof of our garden shed are a pain.

The hedgerows in the south west seem to me when we visit to be kept far better than up here for wildlife. It’s something of an agricultural desert in places up here - monoculture, herbicide, insecticide and fungicide hell for wildlife.

Your op must be soon - best wishes are being sent from oop north!

Steve

HiWell baring your chest or boobies (men have then too) shud give you a good dose of Vit D!

Do not take a supplement now in UK.

We are getting sunshine in winter with 16-18 degrees! In NZ.

I had a test for Vit D and it was great.

Too much Vit B has side effects like burst spidery veins in the exterior of your nose

Yes, Vit D is not a Vitamin to be played with. I was prescribed Calciferal (one tab a week) when a Dexa scan showed some osteopenic bones. My Vit D was low (I live in South Africa, but never sit in the sun, I like the warmth, not the weather beaten look !)My Vit D was low, and as soon as it reached normal levels, which was quite quickly, I was reduced to one tab. a month because of the dangers of overdosing.

Teach u to say “we’ll mostly” to me….l.😂😉🤣
