Just wondering

I am wondering how many of you with AF had the mRNA vaccine? Did your symptoms worsen if you did have it.

I’ve had three jabs to date (mRNA) with no problem whatsoever. X

No problems whatsoever. 4 in all to date

Hi ...... sorry a bit thick today

😪 are you talking about the CoVid vaccines ? If so I have had ;

Astra Zeneca on 29 Jan 21; Astra Zeneca on 23 April 21; a booster Pfizer on 23 October 21 and booster Pfizer on 30 April 22. I had a very mild 'flu like reaction to 23 October 21. Nothing to stop me going to work.

At no time was I actually in AF, was diagnosed with paroxysmal AF in January 2010. In effect with all vaccinations I was AF free.

Hope that makes sense.

3 Pfizer had constant afib after each one cardiologist said nothing to do with the vaccines I'm not convinced

Peacefulneedshelp profile image
Peacefulneedshelp in reply to fairgo45

I’m with you I’m not convinced either if you look on the website it plainly states it can cause myocarditis so who wants inflammation of the heart on top of dealing with a fib?

kiwibabe profile image
kiwibabe in reply to fairgo45

Yes I have had 4 Pfizer. Last one I had bad reaction and then ended up in ER with afib off the charts. My cardiologist said definitely nothing to do with it but the MRI operator said heaps of people coming in after vaccines with heart issues. I would still have the vaccine as I am immune compromised but I believe I was affected. I did have my 4th booster close to my 3rd which may not have helped matters.

fairgo45 profile image
fairgo45 in reply to kiwibabe

Your brave I'm in two minds whether to have the forth Pfizer as it took so long to get over the booster I have time to decide as its only just been announced as you would know. It's a bit different for you in your immune compromised we're at the mercy of this afib horrible condition

kiwibabe profile image
kiwibabe in reply to fairgo45

I wont be having a fifth Pfizer until they secure a more effective vaccine - three months immunity is simply not worth the risk of Afib/heart reaction again. I have had 4 Pfizers already and consider I should have a basic level of immunity with that. If these vaccines are causing more heart issues then those of us that suffer SVT, LVSD and Afib (as I do) need to weigh our risks carefully.

2 Asra Zeneca, 1 Pfizer and 1 Moderna. After pfizer in October 21 I had more episodes of AF and then after discussion with nurse at vaccine centre about more AF happening I had the Spikevax in April. Since then I keep flipping in and out of Sinus Rhythm and AF. Waiting for a monitor requested by GP but not arrived yet. At A&E in Feb22 hey were non comittal as to wether the vax was the cause!

Peacefulneedshelp profile image
Peacefulneedshelp in reply to Jay10

I don’t think they Want us to know if the vaccines are causing issues

Jay10 profile image
Jay10 in reply to Peacefulneedshelp

Yes the drs in A&E just nodded when I mention vaccine

fairgo45 profile image
fairgo45 in reply to Jay10

I had a 48 hour monitor which showed afib for the total 48 hours it took a while for it to go back to NSR then my usual on and off afib but still not acknowledged as anything to do with Pfizer

Jay10 profile image
Jay10 in reply to fairgo45

I think my monitor asked for is a 14 day one so the cardiologist should get a better idea of what is happening.

fairgo45 profile image
fairgo45 in reply to Jay10

Well a 14 day one should give all the information they need let us know how you get on

Jay10 in reply to fairgo45

My Kardia says SR with SVEs a lot of the time, irregularly regular it feels to me. Apparently hospital have problems with monitors at the moment, it was due on 16th June!I will post when I have a result!

Hi , I've had all 4 jabs, 2 Astra Zenica and 2 Pfizer boosters but only had a bout of AFib after contracting Covid 2 weeks ago. Thankfully the vaccine has done its job and only suffered cold like symptoms with AF thrown in. On the mend now.

Lupaal profile image
Lupaal

3 jabs, no problem, on the contrary, had covid before the jabs were available and that gave me my first ever afib episode.

Peacefulneedshelp profile image
Peacefulneedshelp in reply to Lupaal

I also had Covid before vaccines were ready therefore I felt I had natural immunity‘s so I never got vaccines I was afraid it would cause more heart issues because it says right on the website but it does cause myocarditis.

I noticed increased palpitations and AF about 2-3 weeks after each of my first two jabs. I seem to recall the UK figures from the reported side effects (yellow card system?) included these but the number was incredibly small compared to the number of vaccines given. In my case they subsided after a month or so.

My afib got worse after each dose of the vaccine- 2 and then a 3rd booster. However my afib really kicked off in January when I got covid- from occasional episodes to 5- 7 hours every two days or so.

I've progressed from PIP to daily 100mg x2 flecainide + nebivolol + apixaban and still getting debilitating episodes average 5 days or so. For me there was a clear connection to both the vaccines and covid.

Had 4, no AF with any of them although quite ill after the 4th but had quite a bit of AF with COVID.

PCC62 profile image

I had not experienced AF ever until my second AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine. Within 24 hours of the jab, my heart rate had increased to 220 though I was asymptomatic. That was 13 months ago and AF continues intermittently, usually every two weeks lasting 5 days. Subsequent jabs were Pfizer on the recommendation of my cardiologist with no complications. I know of two other people with the same AF response to the AZ jab so I’d suggest you avoid it for any boosters.

Peacefulneedshelp profile image
Peacefulneedshelp in reply to PCC62

That’s the reason I didn’t get any to begin with and wondered how other people fared because I know my a fib is triggered by chemicals and the preservatives in those injections would do me in. All the best

needlestone profile image
needlestone in reply to Peacefulneedshelp

Same with me. Heart is sensitive to chemical fillers. I have to have meds compounded to avoid fillers. I cannot do any shots including flu shots due to side effects. The shots don’t guarantee you won’t get it or pass it to someone else. I had covid in January and have had 2 non-covid viruses this year that made me sicker than covid did. I had no trouble with my heart during covid even with fever for 1 1/2 days.

We've just been told here in NZ that the 4th jab is available for over 50's I'm not sure what I'll do this time

Three or four days after my third Moderna, I experienced ectopics. When I checked with my cardiologist, his response was “welcome to booster inflammation.” He prescribed an anti-inflammatory. After a few days, the ectopics stopped.

mjames1 profile image
mjames1 in reply to Tiburon

Can I ask which anti-inflammatory did your cardiologist prescribe?

Tiburon profile image
Tiburon in reply to mjames1

It was Colchicine, typically prescribed for gout. It was at a dosage lower than prescribed for gout to avoid the drug’s side effects. I had none of the side effects.

Glad your okay. I don’t like the idea of having to counter the vaccine with medication. Glad it worked

I definitely developed adverse effects after my second Pfizer - a racing heart. I also had my first AF attack after my ablation (I had been fine before the shots). My cardiologist said myocarditis is a concern and advised me against any booster.Reliable information on adverse effects of the shots has been hard to come by. The US Department of Defence stats are one example; myocarditis data was taken down for a period between 2020 and 2021.

My shots did not prevent my getting the virus. I got Omicron and I'm thankful for my natural immunity, which has always been the best way to fight viruses.

Peacefulneedshelp profile image
Peacefulneedshelp in reply to marcyh

You are so correct. Natural immunity is the best. Doctors are coming around to admit that recently. We all have to be in tune with our bodies and with everything there is no one size fits all. I had Covid in Jan of 2020 although everyone told me no, it was just the flu. Fist symptom was loss of taste, a few says later horrible fatigue and cough plus I passed out twice. Had no idea what was going on. We all know viruses mutate, so omicron is a weaker version of the first one or two. Stay healthy everyone.

Thanks for asking this question as I’m debating having my 2nd Pfizer booster. My AF began after my 1st booster shot and I’m undecided about having the 2nd one. After reading your replies I don’t think I’ll go ahead. Medical team are no help with their vague answers. Thanks everyone on here for your own experiences you’re all so helpful…I’m in NZ so grateful to have discovered you all.X

Absolutely not complications or health changes with vaccine. I have had my 4th dose. I did this because I am going to an event (Military) where there will be over 1000 people.

riffjack846 profile image

When I read that the vaccines could cause myocarditis and/or clotting issues I decided not to get vaccinated. After a mediocre case of Covid (lasted a day and a half) prior to the availability of the vaccines I'm still here.

Had 4 over the past two years of Covid and experienced fast AF after all of them. Although I managed to avoid Covid I have spent the two years feeling quite ill and wonder if this has been due to the vaccines or just the general depression of the virus and state of the world! One bonus is a weight loss of a stone which seems to have helped my AF episodes to be less often and not as long as they were. It's an ill wind that brings no good so they say! Regards to you.😀

I had my first AF 9 days after my first AZ jab! I also had another after my third jab again 9 days later! I have since had other incidents. I do wonder if it all stemmed from the vaccinations, but of course the doctors say it's a coincidence! Suffice to say I didn't have my fourth jab!

Absolutely no problem and I’ve had both Pfizer and Moderna so 4 in all.
