Hi All, I know a few people here like their kombucha, I tried some last night and loved it, I had quite a bit 700ml and my heart has been playing up since 2 in the morning surely it can't be the kombucha?

Not Kombucha per se ....rather Kombucha aggravating the vagal nerve which caused your heart 💓💓💓 to chuck a wobbly of some sort.

Yes this can happen drinking a glass of water with me, the digestion experience aggravating the vagus nerve I think.

It’s fermented and will have some alcohol content, especially if it’s homemade - I take half a glass at most. Some of the commercial kumboocha may have alcohol content on the label but home makers mostly do stuff by taste and experience but some do have a spirit meter and in Canada - it is sold on draft in bars - which might tell you something! Some of my brews have been a quite alcoholic, especially if I’ve added ginger. I don’t know what it is about ginger but kumboocha loves ginger on second ferment and something weird always happens.

It shouldn’t upset the gastric system and so affect the vagal nerve - unless you drink too much!

The positive benefits of kombucha should far outweigh any negatives.

We don't get anywhere near enough fermented food and beverages in our diet, your digestive system will take time to adjust and this is probably what's happening.

I take Kefir and sauerkraut daily and my digestion was a bit upset to begin with, but it settled down and a lot of issues, acid reflux, IBS etc which were being treated with prescription meds have subsequently disappeared.

My advice is to start slowly and gently increase your intake, it will take time to adjust your digestion but in a good way....good luck.
