Great service

I had a call this morning at 9 am on my landline. I'm always very rude on the landline as it is usually scammers and just answer WHAT! Today I had to mellow quickly as it was my local hospital asking if I was free on Monday for a call from cardiology. I'm not actually as it is a PROBUS day and as chairman I like to be there, so they booked me a call from Svetlana my Ukrainian local cardiologist for later in the month.

Every year since they tried to kill me in '17 I have an appointment (since covid by phone) to check all is well with me. I usually update them regarding my EP at Royal Brompton and what he is planning and we chat for a bit before the call ends with "talk to you again next year but call us if anything changes."

I'm not trying to make anybody jealous, just to say what great service we have down yere in North Devon.

Bob

I think in any hospital it depends on how the department you're attending is run. Some wards/clinics/consultants/nurses are excellent and others are not.

She has obviously taken a shine to you Bob. I'm sure she was the consultant who originally diagnosed my wife's AF. Needless to say no one at NDDH has ever proactively called us.

Only plus side is that the arithymia nurses have been accessible by phone in the past if worrying changes to my wife's condition occur.

When they get it right, it's good. I smiled about being rude on the landline though. Have you ever tried saying YES repeatedly? Can be entertaining...

They can record calls and edit YES into all sorts of things that can catch you out. A bit like Michael Miles (if you are old enough) avoid yes at all costs.

Can't tell you the number of times I have been rude to callers (especially withheld numbers) only to find out they are genuine!

Best one I did was when I was plagued by firms trying to sell me cavity wall insulation on Government subsidy scheme to which I must have declined a survey 20 times.Eventually I gave in and said OK come round and survey. So I guy turns up and goes round all the walls and says , "your walls already have cavity wall insulation " , to which I replied" yes I know so will you tell your office to stop ringing g me!"

Lol I know what you mean by land line calls mostly being scams Bob, my husband always answers with “ I’ve two words to say to you and the second one is off “. He’s been caught out a few times though lol. Great service you have there Bob, hope all is well with you. I’m still in AF most of the time.
