Pace and ablate

Can anyone who has had these procedures help me with information please. I've had my pacemaker inserted on Monday 9th May. Xray, ECG and pacing checks were perfect on discharge. I'm getting odd ectopics but was told my ventricles are just a bit jumpy after being poked and prodded and not to worry so I'm ok about that. However they say to expect discomfort. Well I'm getting wound discomfort which is ok (but sore!) but I have virtually been stabbed so I'd expect that but I'm getting some central chest discomfort too. Did anyone get that too? If it hasn't settled by tomorrow I'll phone clinic but I was just looking for others experience. TIA

I had my pacemaker fitted on the 10th March and will be having my AV Node ablation on the 23rd May. I did have discomfort after having the pacemaker fitted and was very careful about not raising my left arm for the first four weeks. It has all settled down now. I think we have to remember that the surgical procedure has gone into our heart. The two leads from my pacemaker were stitched in place in the heart. So our heart needs time to recover. I took Arnica to help with the bruising and healing and that worked very well for me. I have still had AF and more tachycardia but have been told that is normal and that the pacemaker won't make a difference to the AF until I have the ablation.

Good luck with your recovery and I hope you don't have to wait too long for your ablation.

Thank you so much for your reply. I've actually had to come into hospital to see the cardiologist today because this chest ache is getting worse not better. I truly hope this is just post surgical pain and nothing else but I'm in the right place just now. I'm a terrible patient! They give loads of information about wound care but only mention discomfort which can be misleading. I feel like I've been thumped in the chest. Anyway thanks again for your reply. I hope your ablation goes well. If it helps, the cardiac nurse said ablation is a doddle in comparison to the pacemaker implant 😁 hurray!

Thank goodness you are in the hospital getting it sorted and not leaving it. I am hoping this ablation will be better than the two previous ones. My cardiologist said it is a quicker procedure so keeping everything crossed. Sending lots of luck.
