Dear All,I’m considering having a mini maze ablation.Unfortunately will have to consider going private- for obvious NHS waiting times.Does anyone know what the costs are?

Alison, I saw your later comment that clarified the private cost as double that of a catheter ablation. Thank you.Hope that all is going well and look forward to the end of week report. Rest, breathing, walking, joy.

Ablation is about 15-18 k so guess its fair bit higher then that for minimaze. Unfortunately way beyond my means or I would invest in it. Maybe google it? best of luck

Wilson it depends where you live in the UK as it is done on the NHS, in Sheffield and Plymouth so you may be able to access. Private mini maze is roughly double what you have quoted x

Do you know who does the mini maze in Plymouth?

MummyLuv profile image

Yes Malcolm Dalrymple-Hay. I’m afraid I don’t know anyone who has had a mini maze by him though. All my research pointed me to Steven Hunter as the most experienced.

Csingicsong I think you have been offered a mini maze and so I am wondering if there is another hospital too doing on the NHS, do you mind me asking who your surgeon/hospital is?

I’m aware of Steven Hunter, Sheffield who I went with

Malcolm Dalrymple-Hay, Plymouth

Paul Mobi, Liverpool

Johnathan Hyde, Brighton

This is encouraging isn't it? Hopefully I won't need to consider it. Ablation #2 progressing well.

Least year I though I was lucky I got a procedure done….this year not enough beds but I think going private is the best idea.

So… I’m reading this ( live in the USA in Southern California) and am trying not to laugh that you could get a minimaze for 35K.Here-try 300K+.

So here is my advice: take out a loan. You could save your life, eliminate your AF stroke risk, be able to enjoy all activities and lifelong NSR for the price of a car.

This is a no brainer.

The cost of the Wolf Mini Maze, if you self-fund, is about $150,000 - A Bentley car.caranddriver.com/bentley/be...

In the UK the mini-maze cost will buy you a small BMW !

Yes, so if you are in the UK and can have the procedure for the cost of a small BMW, that's totally worth it! BTW- over here in the US, my total cost including anesthesia, ICU and nursing care was $326K. Insurance covered it, thank God, but if it hadn't and the only way that I could get one was to take out a loan and pay $30 -35 K, I would do so in a minute. This is your life.

You are right. If the AFib is destroying one's life, there is no other choice.

Alison (MummyLuv1) had her mini-maze exactly a week ago and she is reporting her progress on this forum and also on the Wolf Mini Maze Facebook group.

Did you have the Wolf mini-maze or another thoracoscopic procedure, and how long ago?

Wishing you good health. Saul
