Second Ablation Procedure

I am going in for my second ablation procedure in two days. Due to job change and stress my AFIB got worse. My job is very physical and ten hours a day on night shift.(clean up at a sawmill). How much time should I take off work after the procedure? Thank you Trina

If you have a physical job I'd see how you get on after the procedure. How long were you off for your first ablation? With my AF I don't think I could have done a physically strenuous job at any time. After an attack I would feel washed out for days.

My first ablation procedure I was off a week, but I had a sit down job. I now do very physical sawmill clean up job. My procedure on April 28th went well but kicked my butt. I am really tired. I will be going to my primary doctor to get a least one more week off.

In your case I think I would want at least three more weeks to recover and then see how you feel. It took me months to get over my second ablation. After my third I felt better almost immediately.

Take note that Jajarunner below says it took him three months before he could do a physical job. I can quite understand that. If you don't feel right please do not go back to work too soon, because you will regret it.

I would talk to HR about graduated return to work and explain that just because you haven’t had open heart surgery, the inside of your heart believes you have so it needs time to heal.

I think a lot will depend on how you feel but I would listen very closely to your body and don’t push it otherwise you will be back to square one.

My operation went well, only much more tired this time. I believe still recovering from very stressful 6 months. went from dryer room operator to night shift clean up due to mill closure at Roseburg Forest Products. Oh! and $5 less an hour

My job is active and jt was a good three months before I felt able to return. My employer has been brilliant but financially I took a big hit, but health trumps money (up 5o a point, of course)
