I’ve recently had patch tested for my potential pacemaker implant. One of the numerous things they said I tested positive for was Cetrizine.

Seeing there were numerous things I tested positive for I am not sure what the eventual outcome will be.

? 🤔

I have amended my typos 🙂.

I have multiple skin allergies and have challenged the doctors to assure me that I won’t have an allergic reaction to a pacemaker implant.

So far after 3 years we are no further forward as the pacemaker manufacturers are reluctant to provide info on the components of their products.

Pete I have to go down this route soon, I have various skin allergies one being to metal, can only wear gold or platinum, do you know if this is a problem.Cassie

As I said I have received no conclusive answers despite investigation is now three years from when my EP first suggested I needed a pacemaker. I also have pressure urticaria so am also concerned from that angle

I too am allergic to metals such as nickel hence my concern.

On a positive note the Dermatology Consultant has said skin allergy does not equal an allergic reaction to a pacemaker.

I am still asking questions.

In general any antihistamine that doesn't contain a vasoconstrictor like Sudafed or phenylephrine should be safe. Of course atypical reactions can occur with any drugThey're are many subtypes and it would be worth a achat with your pharmacist to see what they recommend

Personally I take Zyrtec in the spring without any problems. Etheral.

I take loratadine for hives, no ill effects

Loratadine didn't work for me, proof that we are all different. Cetirizine was prescribed by my doctor, and works.
