Hello nivek and welcome to the forum. I have to admit your introduction made me chuckle a bit but I hope you don’t mind. I joined this forum back in 2014 and one of the things I quickly realised is that there is absolutely nothing normal about having AF!
It really can be different for everyone so it would really help if you told us a bit more. When and what you were diagnosed with ie AF, Atrial flutter (paroxysmal or persistent), prescribed medication, how AF affects you as in symptoms, whether or not you have seen a consultant……anything that you think might help members to help you.
Hi Nivek.
Welcome to the forum.
Of course your normal. You won't turn in to a hairy monster or something - I promise. You'll never turn in to the Incredible Hulk I guaranttee.
Yeah afib is pain at times but there are worse conditions to have. It's not ideal I know but it can be dealt with. You are one of the lucky ones as you know you have it - many don't. I assume you are on anticoagulants. There's half your battle won already.
It's a shock when you have first been told - it is for us all. However you will go on to live a normal life. Stay positive and you'll beat it - no worries about that.
Who will be the winner - you or afib ? Sometimes it's get's me down but it won't beat me. I can promise you that. In fact some of things I've done since being in afib are unreal. I've been on some of the dangers walk ways in the world - I've traveled and seen different cultures. I've been on long flights but it won't beat me.
I'll tell you something else Nivek - it won't beat you either. Be postive and keep that mind set. Take your doctors advice and you will beat it hands down.

Yes, you are the 'new normal' !
From my point of view AF is normal, an awful lot of people have it. But, there is no one flavour of AF. Even grouped into its main types people react differently to meds, food, external stimuli etc. But there'll be someone here who has had similar experiences. Best of luck, Gary
Hi Nivek and welcome to this happy band of travellers along life's bumpy highway! By the sound of it, you have AF but it's well controlled. Have you had an ablation, yet, or is it controlled by bisoprolol or other drugs?
Steve
Welcome, I tried being normal for a couple days once, so boring. So now for last 8 years, pink highlights and weirdness!!
Hi there, Welcome to this merry helpful band of folk, of course u are normal!
There’s lots of us, and it is a shock to start with but life can be pretty normal,
Sue

You're normal. There's a whole host of things that can come along to join it and, at that point clinicians say the ... department are really interested in you, consultants publish papers on your case and, medical students examine you. That's quite good too in a perverse way! Until then, enjoy being normal, take good medical advice and, avoid strokes.
Just wondered if you found any of the replies helpful nivek……
interested in opinions on side effects of drugs prescribed for Angina and AF; is it only beta blockers that appear to be the offender
