I had a mini-maze followed by an RF ablation in 2017. It is now 5 years since the mini-maze and that time has been AF- and drug- free. I have occasional ectopics; these have sometimes been sufficient to give a "Possible AF" reading on the Kardia, particularly when I have had a viral infection, but my cardiologist has reviewed the readings, and has said these were not AF.
My AF was most likely caused by my excessive exercise, coupled with a genetic factor. I now consider myself completely back to normal and am able to live as previous, although with a less competitive attitude.
I have had a cough/cold for three weeks, although symptoms came, went and then different ones returned, so I suspect I have had three different infections. With the latest, I have tested positive for covid (in spite of being double-jabbed and boostered) but have suffered no bad effects or even ectopics.

Sorry to read about COVID but delighted to hear that you are now 5 years afib free! I am 2 weeks away from surgery with your surgeon and I am nervous for sure but hoping to have the same awesome results as you 👏
Hello John. I hope that you are now well recovered from the COVID. My wife and I had it twice and we're still here !
I am sorry to have missed your post before and I am AMAZED that dozens and dozens of folks on this forum had not wanted to know more about your successful procedure.
Alison, MummyLuv on this forum, has had the mini-maze seven weeks ago, with Dr Steven Hunter, and is doing fabulously.
We are all waiting for here to stop her medications and be NSR free for the rest of her life.
Congratulations to you. People like you and Alison inspire others.
