I had a successful ablation in October 2020. Since then I had a couple of echo cardiograms and blood tests and my heart function improved a good deal. Was back playing tennis and at the gym with the agreement of dr. Two weeks ago I felt unwell, no appetite and tired for a couple of days. Woke up on the Monday morning and had gone back into AF. Felt so unwell over the next few days that I called 111. Result was I went to hospital where it took 24 hours to bring heart rate down. Now full of betablockers and digoxin and breathless and no energy. Seeing cardiologist in 2 weeks but what happens now. So frustrating
Feeling upset: I had a successful... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Feeling upset
Happens to the best of us. Many of us have had to have 2nd or multiple ablations. Your cardiologist will assess and give you a prognosis and treatment plan.
After drugs and ablations my go to was Pacemaker and since implant in 2018 I have had only a handful of AF episodes which were much shorter lived and all but one, less symptomatic.
Unfortunately ablation isn’t always a once only procedure and you may have break through rogue electrical pathways.
Hope your consult goes well.
Second ablation no doubt. A least you know what to expect so no worries there. Very common outcome as single ablation often needs some touch up especially if first was cryo.
Hi Penny.
Don't be upset sweetheart - it happens to us all. I fully understand were you coming from.
Yes it is frustrating I know. But let's look on the postive side with this one. You are seeing your cardio in two weeks - great news. Your HR has been lowered and (for me) you do adjust.
So this is what I think. You will see your cardio very soon. Your HR is being controlled and your heart function has improved. It's a pain I know but you'll come to terms with it. See what your cardio has to say - maybe a simple CV will be suggested - I don't know.
Good luck - you'll get there. Don't panic as it will come right in the end one way or another.

I'm 5 weeks into recovery from my 2nd. As others say, it's very common to have to have ablation twice. Get your name on that list and meantime you know AF and will manage yourself during the waiting period. Fingers crossed for a productive consult.
Sorry to hear you are upset. I hope you will be feeling better soon and can move forward with more treatments. Best wishes x
Perhaps you overdid the tennis etc but I am sure all the previous comments will cheer you up. Best Wishes. Jo
