For the last few weeks I have had what looks like two purplish small bruises or blood blisters, each about 1 square cm, on a right big toe. These look fairly insignificant but are quite painful to walk on. They seem to be more painful in the mornings. I have covered them in plasters and used corn pads, but they have not improved. I am fairly new to Apixaban, only having taken it for a month or so. I wondered if it could have caused this problem? As I said, I'm not sure if it's a blister under the skin or a bruise (or even an infection). Any info would be appreciated.

Bruising due to Apixaban?
Have you stubbed your toe recently or worn some new shoes? I have been on Apixiban for 5 years and never had any unexplained bruises.
No, that's just the point, I haven't done either of these things. And the bruise/blister has lasted much longer than would be expected.
See your GP about this. There are lots of other things that can cause unexplained bruises like that, and I can't remember seeing any other reports about bisoprolol causing such bruises in the years I've been on this forum.
It would be best to get it checked out by doctor if you are concerned, but I have been on Rivaroxaban (another anti coagulant) for three years and have also had unexplained bruising episodes. One was on thumb which I'm sure I hadn't hit on anything. I've currently got one on little finger, and again I have no recall of hitting it. Neither were/are remotely painful. I do have one on little toe - which I did stub on a door and that is painful, but toe "things" tend to take longer to settle down. I don't bleed excessively when cut and when I've mentioned bruising it's always been dismissed as nothing, so am interested to hear what you are told.
I am also on Apixaban and as it is a blood thinner all your bumps and bruises show up far more. If it lasts more than a few days I would mention it to your GP.
I never had any such reaction. Perfectly normal bruising same as when I wasn't on Apixaban. It's an anti-coagulant by the way, NOT a blood thinner which is only given by an injection in very rare circumstances.
All the best.
