Sotalol and being nauseous everyday..

Good day folks. I am a 42 year old male with Paroxysmal afib , narrowing pulmonary veins and a dilated aortic root opening at the sov . I have had a pulmonaryveinisolation and have tried multiple medications with no real help. I am now on Sotalol and I am feeling nauseous throughout the day and my day always strarts with feeling nauseous. Is this from the medication or my heart problems? Just looking for similar stories or some similar experiences. Thanks ✌️

Hi Fry.

I can whack in this one right away. I am also on Sotalol 80mg 3 times a day.

Yes very much so. Not always but sometimes it happens. I find drinking water helps - get liquids now you right away. I'm not happy it's happening to you but it's good to hear I'm not the only one. I feel staying hydrated is key here.

I agree with Paul. I have half a pint of water with a small amount of ginger cordial as soon as I wake up. That does the trick. I will say that I felt far more nauseous when I was previously on bisoprolol, metaprolol and flecanide. For me Sotalol is the best of the bunch. I also have a couple of pints of water during the day as well as one coffee and one caffeine free tea.Hope you get on top of the problem.

~I have extremely sensitive gut having problems with nausea most meds.I buy empty acid resistant capsules from local Pharmaceutical company who make up other meds for me.

I believe these capsules come in from Australia - I am in NZ but there must be equivalent overseas.

Enquire at your local chemist - I cut my present meds up with pill cutter & nausea is 99.5% non existent.

The idea being to leave gut alone & breaks down in large intestine - works well.

Good luck ~

I’ve been on Sotalol for a long time now and haven’t had problems with it. If you are taking it on an empty stomach, maybe you could take it after food and see if it helps.

Hello, I am 57 on Sotalol, that I cut down to 40mg daily. The main side effects were blurry eyes, I stare at computers all day at work, now just problem when I lack sleep. However,I had very strong nausea after bouncing back on my own from my 1st syncope with rapid afib and probably ventricular tachychardia.

Sotalol has been a good medication for me . I didn’t feel sick when I first started on it but I was very emotional. I felt as though I wanted to cry about everything. That feeling left after a couple of months. I am on the highest dose I can have for my weight so feel lucky to have got away without more side effects.

I hope your sickness passes soon . There is nothing worse! X

I’ve had problems with different generics. I keep track of which generic I’m on. And look them up on google.

Hello Fryguy.I have been diagnosed with Paroxysmal AF also, and I also suffer with Nausea quite often, especially in the morning and sometimes after eating.

I’ve been to a Gastroenterologist who really didn’t solve the problem.

I am taking Diltiazam for High Blood Pressure and Apixiban, anticoagulant, and Atorvastatin, I think it’s the Diltiazam that keeps the AF sort of in check.

I’ve never found an answer for the Nausea, maybe it is the AF, sorry can’t be any more help to you. John
