nauseous on bisoprolol
What dose have you started on ? I found a lower dose easier to start with then increased once I was used to it.
thankyou bantam 12 for your reply.when my gp perscribed it she told me to take 5ml straight away.and to go up to 10 ml if needs be..when i told her i was not doing so well on it all she said was its managing it.and that lots of people have been on af all their life..i had the feeling she thought i was being a whinger.i havent set foot at the doctors for at least 2 /3 years before this.
Crikey that's a big dose to start on, no wonder you have side effects. I was started on 2.5mg but found it to much so went down to 1.25mg and stayed on that for a few months so I could get used to it, I'm now taking 2.5mg at night and I'm ok.
You could maybe try a lower dose and take it at night to see if it helps but if not go back to your GP and ask for an alternative.
No way can I tolerate this drug, neither can many people on this site.
Just put Bisoprolol into the search engine and you will see just how many people feel very bad. I have specific reasons for not tolerating any Beta Blocker and have a Red Alert on my medical file to not be prescribed it.
Report back to your doctor and ask to be be changed to another medication. I cannot see the reasoning for taking a drug that makes people so ill without benefit but do be aware that you will need to reduce your dose very slowly to come off it, even a very low dose can cause anxiety, nausea, breathlessness and fatigue.
thank you c dreamer for your reply.i am going to cut the dosage down to half and monitor myself.honestly i was beginning to give up ,as things in the house are beginning to lack-lustre.it took me an hour to change the bed on monday.my nerves are shattered as i thought i had some underlying terrible disease.thankyou so muchxxxx
I felt like a zombie on 5mg of Bisoprolol and told my GP that if I had to live feeling like this for the rest of my life I did not want to live . He told me to halve the dose immediately and then I cut it again to 1.25mg. I still did not feel good so my cardiologist said I could come off it . When afib came back after a major op the hospital cardiologist again put me on 5mg but this time I was forewarned. I cut the dose as soon as I reverted to NSR. I then got my own cardiologist to switch me to Nebivolol. You need to be on the lowest dose that will keep your heartrate down. If a lower dose will achieve this and result in fewer side effects it seems counterproductive to take more.
thank-you for your reply. auriculaire.this is the first day i have cut my dose to 2.5 mgs.and i see a light at the end of the tunnel.i am going to take it at night.,and see how i get on.i have been feeling the same as you that life is becoming unbearable.but i,ll fight another day lots of love and greetings xxx
Many people can tolerate Bisopropol but I couldn't and I only ever took 1.25 mg . Glad I was able to drop it after about 2 years. I wish you well going forwards.
thanks magson for your reply. of all the different meds taken down through the years for different ailments this has the worst side affects. i will be coming off of bisoprolol asap.xx
