Fexofenadine is an antihistamine ( H1 blocker) also known as Allegra, brand name and is sold OTC in the US. It can be used for allergies, hives, etc.

Hi Owain.

Maybe this link will help.

One thing to note

"have, or have ever had, heart problems"

I'm sure though your doctor wouldn't give it to if he / she thought there was problem.

I was prescribed it two years ago for my chronic sinus troubles. It did nothing for me, but it is said to be a very good antihistamine and to be useful for a range of allergy-type conditions such as hay fever and hives Although my GP called it "strong" my reading about it seemed to show it was little better than ones you can by over-the-counter. It seems to me that one antihistamine is much like another, except that the older ones create some drowsiness.
