AV node ablasion with pacemaker
I opted for Pace&Ablate but the PM worked so well for I cancelled the AV node ablation.
Great to hear. Do keep us updated!
I have had similar history ending up with pace and ablate. You will be glad you did!
Glad it went well. Were you able to get off of all your meds other than s thinner? Let us know how you get along as you heal
So pleased to hear that you are doing so well after your AV node ablation and pacemaker implant. Long may that continue. Yes, please let us know how you get on.

That’s brilliant, glad it has worked well for you. Think this is on the cards for me too, so nice to hear your doing well.
Brilliant. Long may you continue to feel better. Really pleased for you 😁
Can I be rude and ask how young you are?
It was the best thing I ever did too
I have had this procedure too. I am doing very well and do not regret the decision.
Because of a long standing lung condition ( Bronchiectasis) , the onset of atrial fibrillation made me exceptionally breathless and unable to function. I was not able to take some of the normally prescribed medication because this would have had a bad effect on my breathing. I had one ablation and felt well for over a year and then the wretched Afib struck again. I have a dilated left atrium and though it would perhaps have been possible to have a second ablation, I decided to accept the alternative offer of pace and ablate. I had been in and out if A and E several times because of Afib and then Aflutter. In these times of COVID, the risk of frequent hospitalisation further informed my decision to have pace and ablate. I had been intent on taking up all the advice in the
“ Afib Cure” - a must read for all this with Afib in order to avoid what seemed like a drastic measure of pace and ablate. I was overtaken by events but still find the advice in the book relevant and useful.
I was really well looked after by the team at Leeds General Infirmary where pace and ablate was carried out. For any of you folk in the Yorkshire area who are struggling, I recommend consulting Dr Chris Pepper but the whole team strike me as marvellous. Initially I consulted the amazingly helpful and knowledgable Dr Boon Lim in London who recommended Leeds.
I offer the above information in the hope it may help someone reading my post.
But back to you Ladycool - I send you all good wishes for the future. I am so glad you are doing well. Let us all know how you progress.
And huge thanks to everyone who contributes to this forum. My heart is gladdened to know just how many really kind and thoughtful people do their very best to help and support others.
Ladycoolj,
I too had an AV Node Ablation and a Pacemaker done two weeks ago. I am feeling great as well. My incision site is still sore but I think that is because the pacemaker implantation procedure took longer than expected (5 hours). But overall I am so much better than I was before. I am 62 so it was a tough decision for me but in the end I now think it was the right one. Thank goodness for this piece of technology!!
My best to you and your continued recuperation.
I am due to have the pace and ablate procedure done in Plymouth hopefully this month. Your post and the comments that followed have been very reassuring! Thank you and wishing you a speedy recovery.
Well done! Hope all is going well for you.
Really pleased when I hear success stories on here. Further down the line, this may be my option. Please keep us updated on how this works out for you.Sue
