I had an ablation beginning of Sept 21. Instructed to stop flecanide & Antenolo mid December. Everything was ok until last Thursday. Lucky I was at work and had immediate help. I’d had chest pains 2 days prior and felt tired. First symptom, a strong pulse in my jaw and a very tight feeling in neck. This lasted throughout , then my heart went in to afib and I became really unwell, had no control over any of it. I had a high heart rate and whole body shook, then pulse crashes low and shaking stopped. Then it kept repeating in this cycle . I took a pill in the pocket approach at the start of feeling unwell (flecanide & antenolol)
The fist aider who was monitoring my pulse has advised that she lost my pulse twice and I was in and out of semi consciousness. An ambulance was called but by the time they arrived I started to come out of it (hopefully the meds helped) I was taken to hospital to rule out a heart attack. Thankfully all was ok and my heart was back to normal .
I’m so concerned as the first aider was ready to start chest compressions until I suddenly started to feel ok. It was super scary. The good news is I didn’t feel ill after just tired. I’m seeing my cardiologist this week for post op appt. Can anyone share any similar experiences as the paramedics caught nothing and I was feeling fine within a few hours. Always worries that unless it’s captured no one believes you! . Many thanks

If you read posts from folks who have had an ablation you will see it’s not unusual to have rhythm irregularities, sometimes 6 months after the procedure but your experience must have been really scary and because it includes chest pain, it should be thoroughly checked out. I’m sure you will, but make sure you have a detailed account of what happened from start to finish so that you be sure your EP is aware of all the facts. I also think it might be a good idea to consider investing in a Kardia. Whilst you are hoping there won’t be a repeat of course, Kardia reports are recognised by most EP’s so should something unusual happen, you can capture the information for further analysis.
Hope things settle now and good luck with your review. Just another thought, if it’s a telephone appointment, think about emailing the details of your recent experience to your EP’s secretary as this will give him the opportunity to consider the situation in advance of the appointment…….
Thank you for the reply and it’s good to hear it’s common post ablation. I do have a Kardia Mobile, but didn’t have it on me! I will from now on though! Seeing the consultant face to face, and yes I agree a detailed account needed.
Having had similar experiences of long pauses during AFib and losing consciousness, I don’t think you would be able to use a Kardia in those circumstances.
wow I have had many strange things, especially since my vein of Marshall ablation last and though I felt horrendous, I never had anything as scary as what you had. I’m so glad you are OK and I’m very glad you are seeing your cardiologist. The only thing I have when I have had an ablation is when my afib returns from another area. I do. Hope that you get answers when you go to see your doctor and he has a way to stop you from going through that again. 🙏🏻❤️
