I underwent an ablation procedure for AF about 4 weeks ago. A few days after the ablation I developed a cough - dry, quite tickly, eases off when I'm sleeping/resting - which has hung around for about 23 days. I'm going to speak to my GP about it this week, but I was curious if it's ablation related, and if anyone else has had this issue?
The cough hasn't worsened over time, I've not had any breathing issues and I don't have any issue exercising.
Cheers.

John, take a look at my reply to Salbie above and read the factsheet about recovery. The tickerly cough is likely to be caused by the small camera passed down your throat just prior to the procedure. Normally, Lansoprazole is prescribed for 4 weeks or so to ease the irritation…….
Could be nasal drip. I had similar cough and GP prescribed steroids which really worked. It was an annoying cough and came a week after my cryo ablation.
Hi, I had this though didn't last as long as you. The catheter goes very close to the diaphragm and trachea. I was awake during mine and felt pain near the bottom of my larynx. I did not have the endoscopy procedure first. I coughed for several days and also had a hoarse voice. Any cough or sore throat lasting more than 3 weeks you should mention to your doctor. But hopefully you've just had some nerve disturbance that is triggering the dry tickly cough, and it will pass. Tickly coughs can be like pain responses - you get them even when the physiological trigger is over - speech therapy can help if it persists
