Spironolactone Side Effects

A couple days ago there was a discussion about severe leg swelling due to heart failure. Several of you mentioned better results with Spironolactone than you had with Lasix. I plan to talk to my Dr about it. But can those of you using Spironolactone please let me know about any side effects or problems you encountered with it? Thanks!

None I was aware of. It did the trick and I now take it as a preventative on hospital cardio's instractions.

I have taken Spironlactone intermittently through the years and. have not experienced any side effects. One plus is I do not experiance the urgency and frequency to urinate that I get with Lasix. It can result in a high potassium so this should be checked frequently at first. Best, etheral

If you check on the attached medication leaflets in your tablets one of the side effects is dizzyness I've been fine on 25mg of Spironlactone for 2 years now but my mum who is 90yrs has just come off her Spironlactone ( GP suggested) because of dizzyness just 30 minutes after taking her morning dosage?? .

I'm on Spironolactone and Furosemide, not had any side effects other than going to the loo 😁 No problem with urgency either

From what people are writing here it might be worth asking your doctor if he/she can give a small dose.Mine is very small.
