No Ann, welcome back to the forum. Suggest you read the factsheet, link below. Once you have, please ask any questions you like but it’s important that you realise it can take at least 6 months before everything settles…….

I was expecting runs of irregular heartbeat as said in the hospital information sheet and advises by the arrhythmia nurses at basildon hospital but for it to be continual for 18hours and counting ...which I didn't have before the ablation for that long feels like a real kick in the teeth ....

Then contact the Arrhythmia Nurses and see what they say………

FJ got there first but I second that. Far too early to start thinking that way. Maybe in six or nine months but not now.

Hello mate, I can only echo BobD the not so "ordinary " extraordinary man of wisdom.

It took me around a year to settle down. Still had Afib episodes 8-9 month after the ablation and they lasted hours. And then, suddenly it was done, now episodes anymore. And that is now more than 4 years ago.

Still get my ectopics and they are scary enough but no Afib (knock on wood).

Take your time, adjust your lifestyle if needed and you will see it will get better.

We are all here to support and encourage.

Cheers

Early days yet for you for sure - challenging though it may be to have to deal with this episode, it is too early to know whether it has been a success/ failure or somewhere in between.Reach out to the health professionals you are connected with to get some reassurance. Try to move past this episode and treat as part of the healing process (remember you heart was burnt/ frozen etc... Only 2 and half weeks ago give it some time)

I had a 72 hour session at 12 weeks post ablation (at the end of June). Nothing serious since that and nothing at all in the last 8 weeks. It's early days for you. Stop being anxious, and leave time for your heart to heal. It takes months, sometimes several depending on how you use it.

It's way too early to question if your ablation worked. My a-fib episodes actually increased after my first cryoablation as my heart was healing. After my second -- RF one -- years later, there were a few episodes during the weeks after, and one almost 3 months after. It's early in your healing process; don't overdo activities and get lots of rest while things settle down.

I had a couple of episodes after the ablation and was told it's not unusual and it takes about 3 months for the ablation to be in full effect.
