Hi All, hope your Christmas has been good. Can i ask is there anyone who is taking Tildiem 300mg a day, i have been taking this for 8 days now and from the 3rd day started having palpitations of 120 Hr as soon as i walk around but if i rest it gradually goes back to 70 after 10 to 15 mins. I am also on Flecanaide 200mg daily. It is becoming very debilatating as i cant really move around in fear of the my HR racing. would be very grateful for any advice Thank you x

I started on 60mg and after 2 weeks my heart was racing, I stuck it out for another 2 weeks then had to stop taking them, I went back to Bisoprolol and immediately heart rate went back to normal.

My cardiologist wants me to try a higher dose of Tildiem as he thinks it will work better but I don't understand his logic and I'm reluctant to risk it.

Thank u, i seem to be on a high dose i am sure it is Tildiem causing my fast HR i was told to stop metoprolol day before starting them, i just know i cant carry on like this as it starts off AF or flutter and as soon as i rest it eventually slows down. i had a pacemaker done to stop my HR going below 50 on the meds i was on before tildiem

Diltiazem is a calcium channel blocker meant to slow your heart rate whereas flecainide is a rhythm control drug meant to keep you in normal sinus rhythm so it is hard to understand why you are having this reaction. I think it best to question your doctor on this subject though I understand that this is unlikely to happen till Wednesday.

BobD an increased rate and arrythmias is a known side effect that can happen to some people, my GP knew about it and advised I stopped taking Tildiem while I waited for my Cardio to get back to me.

I also have a pacemaker and my heart rate is normally low 60s but on Tildiem it was nearer 100 and above. Although Bisoprolol doesn't really control my arrythmias it's way better than the Tildiem which caused all sorts to kick off. It is a known side effect although not common.

Good afternoon I am on 300mg Diltiazem per day.

I have had life long palpitations.

I’ve been on Diltiazem for 3 years.

It calmed my palpitations down and they definitely aren’t as intense, but haven’t stopped then entirely.

I was put on Bisoprolol last year and I’ve never felt so ill.

I had around 10 episodes of very fast HR in around 3 days of taking it. I ended up in A&E. My cardiologist told me to stop taking them.

My heart rate soon went back to normal sinus rhythm.

Then this year they tried me on Nebivolol.

Same reaction. I felt dreadful.

Heart was very erratic and many episodes of strong palpitations.

Stopped them as well.

So we are all very different and have different reactions to certain drugs.

I have now been prescribed Ramipril.

Started these on 10th November.

I am quite reluctant to say it for fear of tempting fate, but I haven’t had an episode of arrhythmia since 7th December, which is very rare for me.

This might be the one 🤞🏻

I do hope you find the right medication.

I know how you’re feeling. It really does get you down and you just want to be ‘normal’.

It affects my life so much.

I work with special needs students in FE and I have to be alert and on the ball.

Having palpitations at work really drains me and leaves me feeling exhausted.

As much as I try to carry on, it’s very difficult to just ignore them.

Good luck. Hope you get sorted very soon and can start to enjoy life again x

Thank you for your reply, my fast HR is going up to 130 bpm everytime i just walk acrosss a room i have to sit down and it takes 20 mins or more to slow down so unable to do anything and not sure what to do. I dont want to go to A/E but not sure how long i can cope with it x

Flecainide is the culprit in my case. I used to take 200-300 mg but had such bad side effects. Now I only take 150 mg if I go into afib, but about 7-8 hrs later I will start getting a lot of PVCs and/or PACs, and they will last for 2-3 days—horrible. However, I don’t get a fast racing HR. Flec definitely works to stop an episode of afib, but it does have numerous potential side effects that some people experience, and others don’t. Apparently, we each have to try out numerous options… it is exhausting and frightening, I know! You are not alone!

Thanks, i have been flecanaide for 1yr its not perfect and still get short episodes of fast AF, i think this is happening because metoprolol stopped and tildiem prescribed x
