I purchased the Kardia 6 lead ecg recorder and every time I used it it says unclassified and it only detects atrial fibrillation which I know is not true because I’m in a persistent atrial flutter so I’m just wonder is there something defective because I keep seeing people with different message say my cardio detected other arrhythmias but it seems like the only two answers I get from mine are unclassified or atrial fibrillation when heart rate is out of whack. I tried on other people and it says normal sinus rythym. And I know it wrong because I’ve been to hospital and done several ecg and they all say flutter and I’ve also done 72 hr holter monitor twice and all confirm it’s a flutter .

Is my Kardia functioning normal ?
Hi Zeinmassri, Here's what AliveCor support has to say:
alivecor.zendesk.com/hc/en-...
('Kardia has algorithms cleared by the FDA to give EKG results of Normal, Bradycardia, Tachycardia or Possible AFib. As a medical device, Kardia is not cleared to detect or communicate any other results, rhythms, or arrhythmias. That being said, the Kardia devices are single lead EKGs, therefore any arrhythmia that is present in Lead I EKG can be present in your Kardia EKG recording. To have your EKG reviewed for other arrhythmias you may share them with your physician to review.')
That plainly points out that it does not directly detect atrial flutter. Atrial flutter is of course distinct from Atrial Fibrillation. Clearly the device is detecting that something's not quite right with your heartbeats, hence the unclassified result, but it's not capable of detecting what it is. I don't use the Kardia, relying instead on the ECG app of my iwatch, which clearly states after each detection of an unclassified reading that if an 'unclassified' result is a common occurrence, or in the case of worry or chest pain, to call emergency services. Like AFib, AFlutter can put you in danger of blood clots forming in your heart, so you should make sure that you have a diagnosis and medication that is relevant for you. Hope this helps.
Thank you so much for your reply I have the diagnosis correct since end of August and I am taking the proper medication of course and that includes blood thinners
Have you submitted any of the reports to Kardia for further analysis (this requires a monthly fee, I realise). I have read online that Kardia can detect AFl, but now in thsi thread, I read that it cannot. I didn't think it would be able to since I was told that AFl requires a 12-lead ECG and, even then, can be masked by AF.
Kike yours, my Kardia shows "Unclassified" occasionally, even though my Apple Watch shows "NSR" or "Fast Heart Rate".
Steve
I have the 6L device and it always says Unclassified when in flutter, but it unambiguously show it in the EKG trace. I sat with a Cardiologist who showed me how to read the trace for flutter, fibrillation, and other arrhythmias (and you can learn too, online or with your doc). You can make a PDF and email it to youself and your doc for free in the app. Also, Karida has a service that lets you pay for a Cardiologist to read it for you.
