Hi all. I am 4 yrs post ablation. Other than a few instances of rapid hb lasting 45 mins or less, I've been great!
My physician has suggested I no longer need blood thinners (pradaxa). I have no side effects from pradaxa, no bleeding issues even during home renovation injuries.
I worry about stroke and have opted to continue taking it.
Is there any reason I should discontinue taking it? Physician says its my decision.
Has anyone opted to discontinue blood thinners?

Many of us here agree totally. The top people know that even successsful ablation does not remove stoke risk so unless your Chadsvasc score was zero before you ablation nest to carry on. I haven't had AF since 2008 but other arryhtmias have come and gone and I will never stop my warfarin.
My mom was sort of in your shoes and she opted out but Honestly I would stay on it even if I’m Afib free. It’s better to be safe I don’t think there is any harm in it or side effects at least for me.
Yes I guess I will have another cv as the one I had 3 weeks ago worked for 2 hours (bliss) then flipped into atrial bloody ectopics then good old a fib.My verapimil has been increased but hr is a bit high imo.120 when I mover about ,much lower when resting tho kadia always says 125 even if I feel OK.Another ecg on Dec 29th.6 weeks post cv.
Sure Ethel. Little high for my liking if it's all the time. TBH I wonder if I should bother with another although I did get 2 years out of the last one.
I had a successful ablation in January of this year and have had no af or flutter since. However, I have been told that because of my age and because I am female I should stay on Pradaxa for life.
