Not exactly sure what you mean by claim. It’s not generally a treatment plan offered here in the UK by a GP but if you are referred to a specialist, it would certainly be worth discussing as part of an ongoing treatment plan…..

I think they are talking about PIP as in money (personal independence payments ) FJ. Not generally from AF would be my answer but we are all different and you may find a sympathetic jury.

You need to meet the criteria and score 8 points - various sections but being unable to wash & dress yourself, prepare a meal, go shopping, travel outside your home without aid. You would have to need this the majority of the time. It’s mainly for personal care and mobility.

I really don’t think that having Lone AF comes would come anywhere near.

How disabled are you because of AF?

Well as you know CDreamer AF can make you feel like crap most of the time breathless and lethargic, and I’d be lost without the car to get around

Absolutely - but that’s not how PIP is assessed. If you needed to have someone accompany you - that would earn you 2 points. I happen to know as I have asked to contribute on someone’s appeal so just read the criteria - in depth.

I think Rick means 'going on the sick'. Please correct me if I'm wrong Rick. Some days I feel rottern (today being one) but it's highly unlikely I would be signed off work. I can get very breathless which would exclude me from some jobs. However I doubt afib on it's own would exclude me from the world of work.

Thanks Paul, yeh that’s how I feel most of time, someone mentioned that I may be able to claim PIP so I just thought I would ask if anyone has claimed it for PAF.Rick

Hi Rick - I am currently on the basic rate of PIP because I have osteoarthritis. I was diagnosed with SVT in January this year. Long story but I now find it quite difficult to do my work [I clean for 4 hours per day] at my local Golf Club. I wrote to DWP and asked if I could get my amount increased because my arthritis has also gotten worse - was refused and I now have had to reduce my week to 4 days instead of 5 and finding this difficult to so would be looking to work 3 days maximum - as long as you can do daily tasks and basically lift your arms above your head they are not interested if you get short of breath/have headaches daily/have 'surges/flutters' which make you feel awful/have an up and down BP/Low pulse rate [between 41 and 47] most days which makes me extremely tired/cannot sleep/nausea you'll have to work till you 'drop.' [I am on 40mg Sotalol twice daily] so these are side effects of this medication. You could always get more advice from the C.A.B. - That's if you can get through as they are extremely busy ..................................

That’s my experience. These benefits are so much harder to get than people realise - until they apply.
