I am fixing to have a total Knee Replacement. My Otho Doctor wants me to take Celebrex. I take Elquis for AF. Has anyone had to do this? I have a big fear of taking it together.

Hello,I have taken Eliquis since 2015 when I had an ablation for A fib & flutter which has been successful. Also take a whole raft of drugs including Celebrex to treat my RA. My other drugs include Rituximab, prednisolone and methotrexate. What is it you are concerned about particularly?

Good luck with the knee replacement. I had my left knee done a couple of years ago and that went well. Just waiting for my left hip replacement on 2nd. November.

Best wishes Pam

I just had my right knee replaced and my doc had me take 1,000mg tylenol. That has controled the pain very well.

Thank you for responding! I am concerned about internal bleeding. Do you eat something before taking them?

According to the instructions you can take them with or without food. All drugs have side effects and many interact with other drugs. However, the risk of stroke with AF in my opinion justifies taking this drug.Best wishes Pam

Im also on Eliquis and have been prescribed celebex for arthritis. Risk of bleeding concerned me so i only take celebrex occasionally. My Dr advised it the NSAID least likely to cause problems though

Check “drugs.com” (seriously a very good site). This site indicates a “moderate” level of drug interaction, citing an increased risk of gastrointestinal issues.
