Jusf a quick update.

Had my 6 mth follow up echocardiogram, pacemaker read out and EP visit.

Very positive outcome, pacemaker proves no AFIB since ablation and echocardiogram very good. No longer on beta blocker just Zarelto.

Upon reflection the worst period was at about four months when recovery from fatigue seemed elusive. Then all of a sudden things seemed to change for the better. I have been concurrently recovering from a RTKR so my aerobic fitness was limited by quad weakness. Both seemed to turn around at the same time so my aerobic recovery has recently tracked with leg muscle recovery.

Can now regularly do 6000 step days back to back with a range of activities. Played 45 minutes of one on one basketball with my 17 yr old grandson yesterday, performed like a dork, but did not puff up.

Ablation can be a complete success giving you your life back. The challenges in the recovery period and the myriad of frustrations along the way are real.

Forums like this one provide a pragmatic appreciation to keep you well grounded.

Need some patience and an attitude of never give in helps!

All the best.

Good to read and yes as we say in our fact sheet on recovery it often takes at least six months and many people are still improving at nine months or a year.

I do wish hospitals would be more up front with patients as telling them they will be back to normal in a couple of weeks just makes us all feel like failures.

Thanks for posting Geoff. I’m having an RF ablation on Saturday (my first) and your post is encouraging and comforts me that is was the right choice.

It’s lovely to hear good news! Excellent! I hope it continues to go well for you. With a positive attitude I’m sure it will!
