Side effects?
Rivaroxaban: Side effects? - Atrial Fibrillati...
Rivaroxaban
Some people. Depends a lot if you read about them.
Maybe
No side effects for me at all. I have been taking it for seven or eight years now, lost count.
I’ve been on it a couple of years with no dramas.
I was on it for more than two years. For me, it caused erosive gastritis, a gastric ulcer and some bleeding. Also caused hair loss, although I find all of the anti coagulants cause hair loss for me.
I took it for about a fortnight. Worst stomach pain ever, felt like I was having surgery without anaesthetic.
I've been taking rivaroxiban for more than 4 years. The only issue I have, is that I bruise very easily.
My cardiologist 3 years ago changed my scrip from Rivaroxaban to Edoxaban citing research from the States, no more details and, because of what was also said, it might be connected that the latter is cheaper for our clinical commissioning group.
Horrible drug. I have been prescribed it as a post op coagulant. On my last dose today and won’t ever have it again. My side effects, (not all every day). rash on face and back. Slight numbness on side of face up to and including ear. It goes away for a bit and and then comes back. General flushing. Woke up very dizzy this morning.
Have been counting down the days until I stop.
Been on it four years and not had any problems though, like Cally53 , I have a tendency to bruise easily. I was on dabigatran before that and that was horrible, gave me very bad gastric problems.
Hi StellaEast, I took them for around 18months & was fine. At first I bruised a little easier & bled a little longer if cut but they healed up ok if treated as normal. I think the bruising situation improved but the bleeding a little more continued. The thing I’ve found is that nobody tends to mention the good side effects - yes, the good ones! Since taking NOACs (now on Apixaban) my hayfever has all but disappeared - what a bonus!!!! Stay strong 💪.
Steve
I had bleeding from my stomach and hair loss. Was changed over to Apixaban.
I've been on it for about a year - no side effects at all. I was taking Pradaxa before switching.
I have been taking it for 6 years. No side effects. A little hair loss but l don't know if it's that or old age.
After I had my 4 cardiac arrests & was fitted with a pacemaker in 2018 (age 71), they put me on 20mg of Xeralto. The only thing that happened after my hospital stay was blood appearing in my urine on occasion. We tried looking at all kinds of kidney issues first, but eventually it was obvious that it was the Xeralto causing it. So she cut me back to 15 mg a day, and the bloody urine stopped completely -- I don't seem to have any other problems with it. I did pick a scab on my leg once and it started to bleed, but it stopped within a minute, so that was okay.
No side effects for me after 2 years
