Evening as it should be taken with food

I see, when I asked the pharmacist before taking it he said 'anytime' as long as it's the same time.

I know those on warfarin take it in the evening and it makes sense that it is at it's most effective during the night I suppose.

I've been taking it with breakfast because it's a given that you wake up (well hopefully) and have breakfast whereas supper is more of a moveable feast.

Ian is your reply evening......as it should be taken with food or

evening as it should be .........taken with food

Hi Jo

Taken with food is more important than morning or evening, I never have time in the morning and sometimes miss breakfast, I never miss my evening meal, although I must admit varies from 6pm to 9pm, and so does the tablets (not ideal I know)

Be well

Evening with dinner even though not always the same time. Takes up to 4 hours to take effect I believe. Don't eat much breakfast and none on Sundays, hence evening!

I take it with breakfast for the same reason as Jo.

I take mine with breakfast. I had an interesting chat with the medic who did my hip injection yesterday. she advised nurofen before line dancing (which I can now do after 11 months off.) just in case the pain increases temporarily. I mentioned rivaroxaban, which puzzled her. She had no directive on that, tho she knew about warfarin. There and then she rang someone and I learned that I can take nurofen now and then, but not regularly. Sorted! 😉

Jan-ran - that is very interesting. I thought neurofen while on Rivaroxaban was a complete no-no. I must have a chat with my pharmacist next time I collect my meds.

Thanks one and all for your replies.

Had an episode of AF last night, the first for nine months, started at 6pm but with 150mgs of flecainide eventually stopped at 11pm.

The best advice I heard here was that, prior to a reversal agent coming onto the market - expected soon, its best to take it in the late evening as should you have a bleed in the day the half-life/run out time is less and the bleeding can be stopped more easily.

That's the advice I was given too, especially as less likely at night (probably!!!) to be doing anything likely to lead to a fall/bleed etc. So I take with my evening meal/snack and hope that by the time I am up and active the drug is less potent?

Hi

My cardiologist wants to change me from Pradaxa to Rivaroxaban as I only need to take it once a day and Pradaxa gave me a bit of indigestion. However contrary to Pradaxa which now has an antidote I am suprised to learn here that Rivaroxaban doesn't yet . This makes me reluctant to change. Also with Pradaxa I never had any bleeding issues in over 8 years on it . What are your thoughts? I can't decide .

Not what you're looking for?
