Hello barge, I’ve just looked at your history and see that apart from some very recent replies to posts, you haven’t posted or replied to posts for four years. It’s therefore possible that you haven’t seen this factsheet about recovering from an ablation. I think you will find it helpful. Six weeks may seem a long while but the healing process for some can take 3 to 6 months so it’s early days yet…..

Also suggest you take a look at honey1958’s recent post “So worried”……

I see you are also a member of the Thyroid UK forum so you maybe you are aware of the link between thyroid function and AF……

Thank you. I guess I just need to let my body do it's job. I didn't know there was a link between thyroid and AF. I will look at that. I've just had my thyroid meds increased?? Both my parents have AF so I just thought it was passed down the line!!

Last summer I had extremely bad AF, when my thyroid levels were checked by my doctor, my thyroxine dosage was too high. The dosage was lowered and it took a good few weeks for my AF to settle down.

The link between your thyroid and AF is a massive consideration, as is keeping an eye on your thyroid levels.

Thanks Jacky. I don't have a thyroid gland, I had it removed years ago. The doctor said my levels had dropped due to age and hormones or something. I've only had my meds increased in the last month or so. I will keep an eye on it

I had a goiter and had it removed about twenty years ago . The operation left me with hardly any thyroid, according to the doctor ! Age and hormones do unfortunately play a part 😂🙄

I did have this after my ablation in 2019, indeed, I still get it. I have digestive issues, however. You might think about telling your arrhythmia nurse or GP as it's possible the catheter has caused this and it will take a while to resolve. However, from what I've read, that's most unlikely and much more likely is the general irritation of the procedure taking a while to settle.

I had this too after my one and only ablation in 2013. Also lots of bumps and odd beats. It gradually settled down and after 5 months all went quiet. Still free if AF 🤞🤞. The heartburn went away but I still have digestive issues. Under control with alflorex and lactose free milk. Be patient, take it easy and good luck ☘️

Thank you Dodie. Lovely message. I've had the prescription sent to the chemist today for more tablets so will see how I get on. I think listening to my dad who had the ablation four years ago hasn't helped...he never skipped a beat after so he was lucky. I was expecting to be cured instantly. !!
