I'm with you on stress. My HR went up to 217 playing a slam at bridge - no money involved, purely the excitement of the moment.

Read up on slow or belly breathing to bring it down relatively quickly, works every time for me.

Sounds like stress to me; I had my iphone stole a couple of months ago and rang my husband (who hasn't AF) from the shop to alert him. Seconds later his iphone buzzed with a very heart rate alert - he was stressed as he was dealing with the problem.
