COVID test before ablation

Hi all. Due to have my cryo ablation next Tuesday 14th. I’ve got to have a COVID test before the procedure. Does the hospital call me in ? When roughly will it be ?

I’m having the ablation at Coventry hospital with dr Sandeep panniker

Met him once. And he was a very professional man and made me assured. Anyone else had dr panniker do there ablation? Cheers

Hi Lenlec,

I go in on the 16th to Barts. I have recieved my testing kit via the post, I have to post it back to them three days prior my ablation. I was given the option of taking the test this way or visiting the hospital to take it . I would definitely get in touch with them if you haven't recieved any firm instructions.

I had an ablation at Barts last August. I did a drive through test locally 3 days before procedure( which was on a Monday) and was then tested on admission. They have a wonderful new lab and everything / everyone was efficient and reassuring. Hope all goes well for you.

Hi Mama48

Thank you so much for your reply, it means a lot .

I had my pre-assessment the other day, and I didn't realise the ablation would be done under sedation as opposed to general Anesthetic. This has thrown me somewhat to be honest , initially I said I just couldn't do it. Although now I have said I will try to, even with my panic attacks and anxiety .

Trying to tell myself that I'm in the best hands and I'm so lucky to get this opportunity for an ablation . My AF has got worse lately , so I will have to be brave .

I had to have mine 4 days before at a normal drive through testing centre and then another on the morning of the procedure in the hospital. If they have not given you details of the telephone number of the testing centre to call and make an appointment or any other information on how your test is to take place then I think you should get in touch.

I’ve got a piece of paper saying they will be in touch about the cold test

Hi, You will receive a call or letter in the post with an appointment 2-3 days prior to the ablation, probably a test centre. Will take 5 min then you will be required to self isolate until your procedure. Good luck 👍

I wasn't given any information about the when or where of the test. Just said in the letter I had to have one. I had to ring the hospital to find out!

I have to isolate from 24th Sept and go to hospital hub for COVID test on 26th. Then isolate again until ablation on 29th. All details in hospital letter.
