Ablation or not?

I'm due to have ablation for ectopic heart beats I get about 8000 a day some supra ventricular some pvcs Mix of both, cardioligist said he can offer me ablation as at the time my mental health was suffering and I was taking two diffrent drugs beta and calcium blocker but since stopping those my burdens gone down slowly and I feel I can live with them now, and i think ablation is a very invasive procedure and not without risks, what do you guys think?

Very unuusual to have ablation for ectopics regardless of burden. Although I'm a fan of ablation for AF I tend to think if you are coping better best see what time brings along. Keep practising the slow deep breathing exercise which helps so many of us.

Probably not overly relevant Dpc, but it would be interesting to know if this treatment is private or on the NHS. I would totally understand if you would rather not say. Most opt for an ablation to hopefully reduce the need for fairly potent medication but from what you are saying, you have already managed to do that. Maybe look at lifestyle changes if appropriate or if necessary, ease off excessive exercise but I agree with BobD, wait a bit and see if the improvement continues. Might also be worth having blood tests to check your thyroid function.

If i had 8000 ectopics a day constantly i would definitely consider it if there was a decent chance of elimination . And you get rid of drugs?? I am not medically trained .

I mean cardioligist usually won't ablate unless at 1500 a day so 15 percent burden, I mean i feel I can live with them currently tried all drugs nothi g really works for me. And side effects was terrible

How is 1500 a day 15%? I was thinking 8,000 a day sounds very high but actually at ave 80 bpm is about 7%. Maybe I’m behind the curve on how burden is calculated. Also I guess intervention may depend on variability eg what the worst 5 minutes is like. It seems to me that my Kardia starts classifying ‘Poss AF’ if ectopics > 16/min, and AF when P waves are chaos ie indistinguishable. (I’m sure that’s not the diagnosis algorithm!).

Yeah mines like 8percent burden so most places don't usually ablate unless above 10 to 15 percent but my cardioligist willing to do but im terrified to go through with it.

If severe. I've read other members here having ablation for ectopics. I do get occasional odd beats which come and go. I had three ablations for AF a few years ago.

Oh wow I mean im sitting at 8000 ectopics a day at min, I mean most cardiologist won't ablate unless over 10 to 15% but mine said he will do for me, problem is I'm living with them now and I'm OK if I was offered ablation in February I would have takenas my mind was really messed up then, I'm penciled in for October to ablate but I know it's risky and invasive also so I'm mortoed about if somethi g goes wrong or I heard you can get new arrhythmias from ablation so....
