I went to my closest hospital for 6 week checkup.

I reported to the technician that i have been getting thumps in chest followed by headache and palpitations.

The tech turned the rate sensitive part of the pacemaker off and sent me down the hill for test walk. Heart performed ok as it was ramping up well . It went up to 140 which is usual max for a 79 yr age. When i got home i started to lose my noodles a bit like in the supermarket i couldnt find my way round, forgot to put covid mask on, difficulty using the self service checkout. One hr to buy 3 items !

Since monday the thumps and palpitations etc have decreased in numbers but still there and now this morning at 10.20 am palpitations and shaking and slightly heady started.

Anyone else with pm symptoms ? I should add that the pm was implanted with the intention of AV node ablation but now they not sure that this is for me. I have exercising problems to after being life long cycling athlete.

Oh dear sorry to read this.I would be inclined to report this back to pm clinic straight away given your symptoms.

If they say it will settle down, all well and good but if not will be aware that you need looking at

Best wishes

I had my rate response turned off a month ago as it was causing increased palpitations and ectopics, it did calm everything down however I was still getting to many ectopics so my Cardiologist changed me from a beta blocker to calcium channel blocker and so far so good.If you are taking meds maybe talk to your Cardio about possibly trying something different.

Thanks Bantam. Yes since turning rate response off things do settle. In fact next day only had 4 events but increased yestetday so not the total answer. I am on calcium cgannel blocker which i take as a pill in the pocket as taking 120mg a day had me up at the hospital aftet a week. I contacted the pm clinic but there was nothing could be done further for me but they were able to put a note on my cardiologists desk who was visiting there . Hopefully i will hear back soon. Maybe a different tablet approach and maybe more talk about AV node ablation ??

Thankyou Tracy. I am much better on waking . The palpitations etc have reduced. I have only a mild palpitation now felt in the top of stomach. I am on Rivaroxaban anticoagulant and i was taking daily 1 x 120mg Diltiazem but this made me very ill after a week so doc suggested 30 mg up to 4 times a day. Which worked but if i take 4 a day then aftet a few days im in trouble again so i have been limiting the amount i take 1 or 2 and getting by. I did contact the pm clinic. They have put a message on the visiting cardiologists desk so may hear from her today
