I’ve been in AF since yesterday lunch time . My Kardia 6 L is showing average HR OF 63 . Can you have AF with such low HR ?

My understanding is that whilst not common it is possible to have slow AF. It is the absence of P wave that defines it.

The P wave is the little kick before the big spike on an ECG. The big spike is the QRS complex followed by the T wave at the end. Where the T wave is inverted (goes down instead of up ) this usually indictes an ectopic beat. In AF there is no p wave.

Whilst on this subject flutter is usually seen as a saw toothed line rather than a normal pqrst complex.

Yes I do. I've had AF occur at 50bpm.I rarely get a high rate AF just very irregular.I also get wiped out with dizziness and fatigue when I have an episode, obviously due to the combo of low rate and irregularity.

I do get flutter occasionally which results in bpm over 100.

So ,yes indeed you can. I think we are the exception though xx

Best wishes.

Yes I have been in persistent AF since Feb and my resting HR is average 73. I have been told 2 ecgs & 2 echocardiogram s AFib but not fast. 24 HR holster being returned today.

Yes my AF has always been with low heart rate. Even when exercising my heart rate is 120 or under and that's while in AF.

My HR is 60s 70s sometimes

The electrical chaos in the Atrium does not always go through to the ventricles. The normal pulse will carry on regardless.

The Atrials Fibrliate but the ventricles pump normally at low rates.

That's really good to know, and makes sense, thanks. My HR goes up only a little to 70s no symptoms other than a little fatigue and distress after I realize it.

Yes indeed. Here’s one of my recent traces showing AF at 61 bpm, it’s sometimes as low as 50 bpm. As others have said, note the lack of P waves.

Recent 6L trace.

I used to get AF with RVR but since my ablation, the AF episodes have been at lower HR (70-80 bpm).

The ablation didn’t stop AF ??

Sadly, still getting episodes but it is just 4 months so they are not calling it a fail. I am less symptomatic than I was pre ablation though. I'm currently wearing a holter monitor for 24 hours and I'm booked in for another cardioversion on Friday. Fingers crossed, that gets me back on track.😊.
