Histamines in food

I've been reading about a build up of histamines in the body causing several symptoms including irregular and fast heart beat, digestion problems, anxiety etc. The body normally gets rid of excess histamines from foods but certain heart meds can block this process so the histamines build up.

Has anybody tried reducing histamine containing foods to see if this helps?

That’s something I hadn’t come across but sounds plausible and could be some people are more susceptible than others. Could you please name the source or provide a link?

At around the same time as my AF. was first diagnosed 4 years ago I was getting a lot of instantaneous blisters on my mouth with many different types of food, including yoghurt, strawberry jam, chocolate. I was referred for allergy testing and the specialist said she thought my intollerances were due to a histamine intollerance. I was put on a low histamine diet and told to take an antihistamine tablet each night for several months! Not sure how or exactly why but miraculously my body reset itself and all of my symptoms disappeared and now I can eat all foods with no problems! However it unfortunately didn't get rid of my AF. which seemed to start within around a month of the symptoms appearing, however it might be a coincidence as both my mum and my uncle have it.
