I've been seeing Kardia mobile advertised on TV and I'm wondering what use it would be to me as I have permanent AF with lots of irregular heartbeats. I cant really see it telling me something I didn't already know, but I'm sure there are lots of you able to put me straight!

Hi, my cardiologist recommended I purchase a Kardia as I have PAF, I had a PVI ablation in 2012 and I have been relatively AF free until two years ago. PAF Is notoriously difficult to capture. It really has helped me, however if you have persistent AF you are not going to learn anything new. If I was you I would save my money on this occasion.

Yep, nothing there for you. Great for those of us with paroxysmal AF though . . .

I would say it's worth getting one for a variety of reasons. Firstly, it can detect certain new arrhythmias should they arise. Secondly, 6-lead ECGs, taken over time, provide valuable information for your EP in terms of monitoring the heart, particularly if your symptoms change. In other words, the device can do much more than just confirm that you are in AF.

It is my understanding that the Kardia is primarily for EKG.

Not really necessary for permanent AF if you have a HR monitor to monitor your bpm to see the effect of medication.

My cardiologist prescribed the Kardia device after my ablation in April. I would take a reading every Friday or any time I felt a heart disturbance, and the readings would go directly to the Cleveland Clinic Arrhythmia Lab. The readings were discussed at my 3-month post-ablation appointment.

Have to think if cardiologist recommended, for a purpose, may be to assist check Pulse Rate to ensure Rate is under control to Identify Tachy or Brady concerns, be aware regular Watch or Blood monitor s, may identify icon show arrythmia but HR pulse reading in AFIB will not capability correct pulse rate unless similar sensor's such as the Kardia Mobile, which have ability reading Pulse rate in AFib assisted by additional finger contact sensors.
