AV Node ablation
Sorry no one has replied, if you do a search of HU you should find some posts, which are usually very encouraging.
Good morning gofk, yes I had a pacemaker fitted about the same time as yourself, and was activated two weeks ago with AV node ablation. Procedure done under sedation and no problems. Settled well with settings on 80 to 120 beats per min. However i have passed out since and have a doctors appointment for checks on what else could cause this, maybe thyroid so will let you know.
But AV node and pacemaker perfect so you should have no worries
Best of luck
Dave
That setting seems rather high. 80, at rest?
Hi Barb1, this was the initial setting, will be reviewed in about 4 weeks and probably adjusted based on information provided by the pacemaker. Yes 80 min and 120 max
I am sure there will be an answer, its the old Engineers saying 'Find the route cause' then sort it

I’m interested in this question too, I go for my Pacemaker check on Thursday five weeks on from insertion and hopefully will get my AV node ablation appointment soon, All I’ve read has been very positive and my electrophysiologist says it’s a good option for me , so can’t wait. Good luck with yours .
6 weeks tomorrow I had the ablation procedure after about 3 months ago having a pacemaker fitted, tomorrow the pacemaker will be set at 60 BPM. All seems to be ok with no AF but an occasionall flutter. my problem as stated before on this site is coming off the bisoprolol. From 10mg i am now down to 2.5mg but my Dr says I should be off it. Best of luck with the ablation.
I am more or less in the same situation and like you finding it difficult to get the answers I need before I commit. My quality of life is on 'Minimum' and has been for 2 years due to afib. But it is an 80 year old heart so I can't expect miracles. My problem is threefold: this ablation does not stop afib - it is 'last resort' - it is irreversible. They say 'Only to be used when all else has failed'. In my case I have had only one RF Ablation in 2013 and it lasted for 6 years. I'm waiting for a second opinion as to why an RF Ablation is not being considered. I still get a whiff of 'ageism' with the UK National Health Service. Nonetheless, it's decision time in a few weeks and if an av node ablation is the best option to give me some QOL back then so be it. Best wishes to you and anyone else faced with this dilemma.
Well done. I believe it can take quite a while to settle down but then you can have your pm tweaked if you are not comfortable. Now you can get on with your life and I wish you a happy, healthy journey.
