I know you need to remain on anticoagulants for a period after an ablation. If successful has anyone come off anticoagulants permanently?

It depends, I think, on your age and if you've got other risk factors

I'm staying on them because of my age.

If you only startd on anaticoagulation for the purpose of the ablation and recovery (Ie your chasdvasc is zero) then you may be able to stop once recovery is complete (maybe three to six months.) Otherwise like many of us for life.

I came of A/C after my 3 month EP Foĺlow up, along with all the other drugs. I was Cha2dsvasc2 zero, I believe my EP was following NICE guidelines. I only started A/C 25 days prior to my ablation.

I had my ablation for paroxsymal AF in March, and at my 3 month post ablation followup my EP took me off metoprolol and the anticoagulant (which I had been on previously) . My chadsvasc2 score is 2, i.e. age and female. I was told to contact them if the AF returned. I always know when I am in AF.
