Pain killers and a f
Hiya trixie100,So, I am assuming that you have been diagnosed with some breed of AF. I have very well controlled paroxysmal AF and take both Bisoprolol and Warfarin. Due to Warfarin I am very limited in what pain relief I can take for osteoarthritic pain and certainly I cannot take ibuprofen. Instead my GP prescribes me an opioid, CoCodomol 30/500 ( not an over the counter drug, must be on prescription). Works pretty well.
Hope that is useful, and I hope others on this forum post more information as the day goes on.
John
The pain of sciatica is in a class of its own, in my opinion trixie, so I sympathise. Like carneuny, my GP also prescribed Co-codamol 30/500 for short term use and it did the job. Best to contact your GP for advice and a prescription as over the counter painkillers aren't sufficiently potent.
I’ve never taken anything more than Paracetamol. I had sciatica but managed with Chiropractice and Fascia Release and trigger pressure and exercises and stretches to keep it well under control.
cocodamol again here!
I have severe osteo arthritis in my neck affecting my back also I take boots own brand paracetamol with caffeine...doc did say no caffeine but the ordinary paracetamol does not take the pain away
Just recovering from 2 months of the worst sciatica I have ever had, normally I can stand on a stack of books and let my leg dangle to release the nerve, but this time I went for weekly physio as I found painkillers didn't work ( paracetamol ) and the Tramadol I was given really made me feel bad, I am on Rivaroxban and Dronedarone . After a massage and some stretching she would apply Rocktape ( the brightly coloured tape the athletes as seen wearing on TV ) and it worked brilliantly for me even after showers it stays on for about 4 days and when it comes off you can start feeling the pain again but it gradually got better with the help of some specific daily exercises. Thought I would share in case it might help anyone , I was desperate with the pain and now appreciate being back to normal more than ever.
I have a lot of pain from a condition called Dercum’s Disease. I grow a fillip as all over my body and they rest on nerves and congregate around joints. I’m prescribed cocodamol 30/500 times two whenever I need them. It is an opioid so I use very sparingly. It is safe to take with AF and with the other meds I take. Diltiazem, Flecainide, Gabapentin, Apixaban........
It is important to find out what is causing the sciatica. If it is because of a slightly protruding disc pressing on the nerve there are specific exercises that will help with this . Sitting in normal chairs and on sofas often makes it worse .I find Tramadol works very well for my hip pain but has the inconvenience of giving me abdominal discomfort. I only take it when absolutely necessary as it is addictive too .
Hi Trixie, I too have a fib and take metoprolol , I also had a very severe case of sciatica that lasted 6 weeks , my cardiologist said the only thing I can take for any such pain is acetaminophen (Tylenol) which I did 500mg twice a day and it actually gave me relief , it was the worst pain I’ve ever had , as it was in my leg I couldn’t walk for weeks and the acetaminophen helped me thru it. I pray yours goes away very soon
