I have used the Accord (in the UK) brand of Flecainide 200mgs/ day for 7 yrs with no known side effects, although in the first 3 months I felt 'not right' both physically and mentally. You could be one off the people who don't tolerate it well depending on what your side effects are.
I was only ever on Tambocor and after a low starting dose 25mg x 2 to reduce side effects I had no problems when taking 50mg x 2.
It took about six weeks before my body could tolerate Flec. at the required dosage so it was just increasing dosage very slowly untill I was up to 50mg x 2
I have no experience with the generic versions but can relate to this because my BP medication had very bad side effects when I was given a substitute brand.
No I have not experienced the other sort, but the only side effects I get from flecainide is that I have put on weight I certainly didn't need. Hope you get on OK
I started on Flecainide 100g x 2 per day on May 10th and had some unpleasant side effects also, but they are beginning to subside. I have not taken Tambocor.
I have never tried that. The generic I use causes severe constipation for me. I have to take stool softeners 2 times a day. I also take 500mg of magnesium once per day. It is a real aggravation.
Sorry to hear you're having problems with flecainide. Personally I have only been given generic Flecainide acetate (produced by Mylan) until now, although my latest box is Tillomed.
I'm no chemist, but I'd love to know why some generics cause some side effects with some people. Maybe it's the cause of my headaches (or one of them?!) but they are not constant, whereas my intake of Flecainide is... who knows?!
I was on Flecainide 50mg twice per day, did not work right until I got and still had afib and felt strange. Once my dosage got to 150mg twice per day that it worked well and for the last three years working great with 150mg once per day of metoprolol
