Hi All

My Arrythmia nurse wanted to take me off Bisoprolol..10mg daily...and try Dronederone.First i have to have bloods taken to check on liver function, this is where the fun and games begin! He emailed my local heath centre to enter a Shared Care.I arranged an appointment and duly attended.I was then told that Shared Care was refused/denied as per national guidelines???No me neither! Obviously the bloods weren,t taken. They also informed me that the AF nurse was emailed two days prior to my appointment stating Shared Care was being denied( nobody bothered to inform me) I rang the Cardiology department and left a message with the secretary to contact and inform the AF nurse of the course of events, this was over a week ago and I,ve heard nothing back. Can Covid be blamed for this? Not impressed at all.

Hi Kia

I've never heard of Shared Care. What is that please?

In general terms it is when care is shared between a consultant/hospital and a GP.

For example a consultant prescribes a drug that needs bloods monitoring and an agreement is made with the GP to monitor the bloods and sometimes write repeat prescriptions.

I think a few drugs are called ‘black box’ drugs and there is shared responsibility between GP & consultant.

Didn't know there was a name for it. Its what's happened with me with my various conditions since I can remember.
