I have AFib and have been on 5x2mg for near on 2 years. Have a deep muscular Injection every month. I used to be on RIVEROXABAN, a sore lump the size of half a Ping Pong used to form at the site of the injection. Changed to APIXABAN, no more lumps until about 1 week ago when it started again. So, I wonder. I know some Chemists change their suppliers for cost reasons. There's now a number on the Tablet 5 on one side 894 on the other side. Could have been there but I had not noticed.

That’s something of not heard of before Hugo. As far as I know, all DOAC’s are only produced by the original manufacturer ie only Pfizer produce Apixaban therefore I would be surprised if it’s anything to do with changes of manufacturer. My Apixaban tablets have the same numbers as yours......
Are you sure that it’s not a possible side effect from the actual injection? I used to give my late husband an intramuscular injection every month. There were warnings in the list of possible side effects that it cause lumps at the injection site. It was a very thick gel with an equally thick needle to administer it.
When I was taught to do it, I was told to alternate sides and check thoroughly for small lumps that may have occurred from previous injections and avoid.
My husband was on Rivaroxaban some of the time and it made no difference whatsoever. I managed to avoid causing him lumps at the injection site.
Thank you Mrsvemb, My experience seems to be similar to your husbands. My intramuscular injection is every 3 weeks & our practice Nurse injects it into one side or the other of my Butt muscles. The injection is made up of a thick oily substance but one or other of us keeps it at body Temperature before injecting. When I was on Riveroxaban within a couple days a Lump formed the size of a half table tennis ball and lasted about 7 days. When I changed to Apixaban I had no swelling or Lumps at all. Hence I was looking for any change to Apixaban.
Looks like I might have changed. I also have no fat and very solid muscles in that area. Even so, Thanks you have helped.

I've had no change of my Apixaban so l don't think there is a change of manufacturer. Hope this helps.
