My eye doctor put me on cod liver oil capsules but I’ve heard they can thin the blood and I’m also on Eliquis. Any thoughts?

Cod liver oil and Eliquis?
It’s a bit controversial. Some continue to take both whilst others don’t like to risk it. They may enhance the affect of the anticoagulant but not enough is really known and ethically, no-one is going to trial something that may harm. I used to take them, I’m also on Apixaban, but as I eat oily fish several times a week & Chia seeds I decided I get enough Omega3 so not worth risking it. Best seek advice - your pharmacist is usually a better bet than your GP.
I believe cod liver oil is anti platelet rather than anti coagulant. so have different mechanisms. I took cod liver oil when I was on Pradaxa, but never thought about it! I also eat only fish at least 4 days a week, and I carried on with that too. ( I am not medically trained)There seems to be a lot on the web about fish oil and apixaban ( eliquis) going both ways.
Did your eye doctor not know you were on eliquis? If not I would give him a call.
I'd never heard that, so I've continued taking my cod liver oil throughout the time I've been taking Eliquis (Apixaban). I've had no problems in over three years, so I'm not worried now. For the record I also take Glucosamine Sulphate, Magnesium Citrate, Ginkgo Biloba, Vitamin C and Vitamin D. I've only started Vitamin C recently after a video released by Dr Sanjay Gupta (York Cardiology). On top of the three prescribed tablets every morning and evening, it's quite a lot of pills!!
I take omega oil capsules (emu oil capsules) and am on Rivaroxaban. I knew about the problem about 3 years ago so asked my GP and chemist but they did not have a definite answer. I have been on emu oil capsules for over 20 years, it not really for heart health but for arthritis, they certainly help with joint pain and stiffness for me. I have been on Rivaroxaban for 6 years and not had any problems. So I shall carry on taking them.
Was looking at buying emu oil as high in vit k 2 but unsure which to buy.
There are not many companies in the UK that sell them. I use Pioneer Trading Company, they are the best priceand a lovely company to deal with. Some available on the internet are in fact from this company and cost more. I was not aware that they were high in vit K, says nothing on the pot of tabs.
