I had a successful electrocardioversion yesterday after I went from PAF to persistent afib/aflutter following 2nd ablation. My heart rate yesterday morning was 92 and this evening it's back to a somewhat normal 52. Today I went for a slow stroll and was very short of breath walking up a slight incline; I cut it short. And during the day have had increasing coughing, and feeling of lungs congested. So I'm anxiously watching for any progression of symptoms, knowing that some folks who have respiratory congestion experience onset of afib. So I just felt like checking in.
I'll do a search of the archives for additional info.
Thanks for being there - sometimes these issues make me feel very alone except for here where there is some understanding of this mongrel. Susan Marie

Please don't do anything strenuous for a while after having your cardioversion e.g. walking up inclines. your heart needs to gain strength beating correctly and for a while it can easily slip back into it's incorrect beat. I've had quite a few cardioversions and had to learn this the hard way.
Around age 57 ... I probably had nearly a dozen cardioversions. I never felt any tiredness, shortness of breath, or anything afterwards. It was a fairly benign procedure with not many side effects .... at least for me. A few of them were by medication ... and many were by the electrical heart shock pads. I was a bit groggy coming out of sedation, but it dissipated quickly.
