Hello my friends . Has anyone out there ever had an ablation for tachycardia not AF has my husband has already had an ablation for that but is there a procedure for tachycardia ? Or is that what they call a AV node ablation ?
Ablation for Tachycardia: Hello my... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Ablation for Tachycardia
I had an ablation for atrial tachycardia in August 2019. My EP found four different sites at work. Sadly this did not work out quite as I had hoped. Although still no AF or ATach I now have a different arrhythmia altogether and of course due to covid we are no nearer finding out what or why.
I was diagnosed in AUG with AFIB and Rapid Ventricular Rate (RVR), a form of tachycardia. I could wake in morning with heart racing in sinus at 130 to 135 bpm.
It would last 5 to 12 hours and resolve on its own. But then it went over into 2 days and would not resolve so easily. I went to emergency.
The doctor gave diagnosis above and started IV Diltiazem (a rate control drug). That brought rate down. Sent me home with prescription for Diltiazem 30mg 4 times a day.
A month later went on Flecainide. It controlled AFIB rhythm and tachycardia, so I quit the Diltiazem.
Cardiologist said when I get my upcoming scheduled ablation, the tachycardia will go away along with the AFIB. I had the ablation in late OCT, and that is certainly what happened. So far, no more AFIB or tachycardia.
They didn't do anything different in ablation. EP nurse/surgical assistant said my case was routine.
I'm just coming to the end of a 2 week continuous heart monitor. Will speak to the EP's office in teledoc session in early MAR to see where I am at and what further treatment I might have going forward.
My first ablation was for SVT or supraventricular tachycardia. It was done under sedation (although after wards the EP said he should have given me a higher dose since it was really uncomfortable). Not so much as a blip of tachycardia since.
I had atrial tachycardia diagnosed in 2019, was due to have an ablation for this in March 2020, of course that didn’t happen! Was ablated later, at Barts, end of August 2020. They described me as a perfect patient! As they were able to track and ablate the problem easily. I was sedated but felt nothing, I could hear them talking and was aware when my pulse dropped down to 60bpm! I have had a couple of episodes of tachycardia since but life is so much better, apart from lockdown! The whole treatment and care could not be faulted, I hope your husband manages to get treated soon, it’s made all the difference to my life.
After a number of ablations for Atrial Fibrillation I developed Atrial Tachycardia.
Whilst it is important to note that we are all different, my EP said Tachycardia was easier to treat with an ablation then April fibrillation.
Despite having said that the resulting ablation I had took nearly 7 hours. But I can tell you I have been much better in the three years since albeit not perfect.

I have afib and SVT. My doctor did a cryoablation for”both” conditions. It was a total success
