Edoxoban. Hair loss
I think this may well be a side effect of most anticoagulants for some people. Nevre had a problem with warfarin but loads of people claim to.
I don’t know but Rivaroxaban is worse!
Bloomin' awful is my current experience. I have taken Apixaban for over 7 years and it's only in the last year that my hair is like a snowstorm when I brush it. Having self-cutting during lockdown isn't helping any either.
It could also be to do with age and hormones Mine has got a lot worse in my late sixties been taking apixaban for 4 years 70 now So cant tell really
My impression is that hair doesn’t fall out, it breaks off. I don’t find roots attached to hairs that randomly drop - been a couple of unfortunate cooking incidents 😧 As I age my hair is getting progressively dryer so I use a very nourishing shampoo and only wash my hair when I feel it really needs it, no colouring or heated appliances either. Hope that helps 🧝♀️
I think if you get hair loss with one anticoagulant then you will get it with them all. I started on Apixaban, then on to Dabigatran, then Rivaroxaban and then Edoxaban. I had hair loss with them all. Hair loss wasn’t the only problem, I seemed to get a build up which caused really bad nausea.
Now on Warfarin and hair loss has got even worse, but so far no nausea. I guess it’s something that we have to put up with.
I was recommended black seed oil to rub into scalp and leave as a treatment or overnight. It meant to be really healing for the scalp and condition the hair. Have only just started doing this so have yet to see results. The recommendation was from a nutritionist and a functional medicine doctor.
I’ve just started taking apixaban 1 month now and I’ve noticed many hairs coming out it’s a bit scary to be honest. According to the information leaflet it does say it’s not common but can effect 1 out of every 100
