Hi guys and gals,

I'm aware I have about 17 notifications/alerts and 1 message (PM), sadly, I'm still working and hopefully tomorrow, when I have a day off I'll get a chance to look at everything.

Glutton for punishment.....😉 enjoy your day off!!

G’day Flapjack,

Yeah mate, a simple dumbo who is a glutton for punishment. That’s this boy!

🙂

I know I can speak freely to you but I have now gone through all my alerts etc and find one thing interesting .......... and it is indicative of the fact that many of us don’t know how to use this forum format anyway.

Simples - not every post can stay “On Topic”, it just isn’t possible. So I

suggest people just accept that the content of replies will inevitably at times lead to a “straying from the straight and narrow” ... and if this upsets people ... tough !

If someone wants to post something which is “Off Topic” then they can do so .... there is nothing in this HU Format that automatically, digitally that can prevent this happening .... its gonna happen, it shouldn’t, but it will.

If someone wants to do this then surely the easiest thing to do is to put in the heading a reference to “Off Topic”, then those who get so offended can just move on ....... Simples !

Finally, ( amen to that do I hear you cry), if people are so precious and get offended then at least have the bald guts to use the message facilty to

complain direct to the author of the offending piece ! Simples, We don’t have to hang out dirty washing for all to see ! 😮

Now I’m gonna send a copy of this message to two forum members at

random .... for no other reason that to test the message facility. I’d like them just to reply by message something a brief as OK.

As I have said elsewhere ... HU has been known in the past to have some sort of “Browser sensitivity” issues where posts are not always seen

depending on the browser a person uses. I thought this had been fixed. I personally have a number of email accounts with different ISP’s ... I bring them all together with a Mozilla product, So, this may mean that some posts ” fall through a hole in the floor”, so to speak. I just don’t know and certainly I am not gonna spend the time worrying about it.

Thats it ..... ‘Roger that. Over and out

😃

I’ve read your reply a couple of times and I’m not sure I’ve got it right, but this is my take on things.

It’s nothing to do with me what people want to talk about whether it’s AF or the colours of the the rainbow but like most here, I respect the hosts (AFA/HUL) requests that forum is intended to help and support people with AF. A small few seem to have a different agenda, they rarely offer any tangible support for anyone but enjoy using the forum for their benefit, whatever that may be.

On one occasion, I did what you suggest and tried to take the conversation out of the forum by using the message facility. Unfortunately, the person concerned was so determined to disrupt the forum, the message was copied and pasted onto the forum with a few added derogatory comments, so that didn’t work!

On a different and totally unrelated occasion, someone here made some critical comments about the AF Association about the work they had done to make their Virtual Patients Day available to all which had clearly been a mammoth task. Some of the words used I know, would have been hurtful to those who had worked so hard to put it together and because the AFA would not and could not respond, I just mentioned that their comments seemed harsh and unfair. In response, to justify the comments, a comparison was made with some work which had been carried out by another forum member. Because I knew the comparisons were inaccurate and because I had a close (AF) association with the person referred to, there was no way I was going to reply in the open forum so I used the message facility instead and that didn’t work either!

Personally, I think I just have to accept that different folk have different views and nobody has the right to say who is right and who might be wrong. The important thing is whatever diversions are thrown my way, it’s best to either learn from them or ignore them and try to focus on what’s important to the people who use this forum and

I just hope I get it right most of the time.

Hiya Flapjack,Well its all a bit strange really. Cutting to the core ...... I am not sure that HU have built in all the safeguards that should be possible. I think its terrible that if you write a PM that someone else can copy and paste your remarks into an open forum .... in my view that is truly abuse. Maybe its time the HU people got their IT team to work a bit harder and review all safeguards. I for one had no idea that it was possible to do this - almost trolling ! and as you know we've had that before too.

Anyway, I'm back on the buses tomorrow and out of harms way I hope.
