Bisoprolol can exacerbate asthma for sure and is not advisable for asthmatics. I suggest that you discuss with your GP.

You should not be worried/ scared but you definitely should speak with your GP or cardiologist. Bisoprolol is great for most people but not all and there are alternatives to try so you are not in an unusual place. My guess is that because it is winter the medic might say wait a week or two ( it may just be a winter wheeze) but then they will try other med alternatives

I often have a slight wheeze, and at one point in my life I had got so used to it the doctor had to convince me I had it!! I too was wary of bisoprolol, but my cardiologist told me that she knew many people with mild asthma who also took bisoprolol. So now I use a salbutamol inhaler, morning and evening + on demand, and that solves the problem. So that is one option if you otherwise have no problems with bisoprolol. Something else to discuss with your doctor.

the interesting thing is that I have never had asthma!

Aha! That is interesting. So the possibilities are:1/ You thought you never had asthma before, but it went undetected, and like the frog in slowly warming up water, you were not aware of it. The bisoprolol then aggravated it

2/ The bisoprolol itself has provoked asthma. From what I can see that is possible but rare

3/ Some other reason

Either way, it is easily treated. My Cardiologist told me firmly that the benefits were worth living with asthma problems.
